Quick update on Timeline 4
Added 2020-09-21 02:20:28 +0000 UTCHey! I didn't have as much time as I wanted but Timeline 4 is progressing! The three main features are almost done:
1. Bezier curves with global smoothing (similar to VaM's animation patterns but weighted) and local smoothing (more predictable and smoother curves, especially with contiguous keyframes)
2. Parented animations, with blending support
3. Improved blending and sequencing, with blend-in control, transition sync, dedicated sequencing tab
Some things are not complete though, non-looping global smoothing is broken, and there's some fine tuning on curves to be done.
There's a ton of other stuff that's coming too!
- Speed is taken into account in sequencing (even if speed changes during the animation)
- Many UI improvements, "Play clip" button now named with the current animation name, playback buttons disabled while playing, increased floating panel size, a few aesthetic improvements to the drop downs, now shows the storable name when it's a non-morph param instead of just the param name
- There's much more but I'll have to dig up the complete list later
And stuff I still want to add.
- Master animations that drives other, solving the "randomize" multiple atoms problem and allowing for a "sequencer timeline" to control all others
- Change crop/extend at time to exclude the currently selected keyframe
- Randomize next animation time
- New randomized Play storables
- Improve trigger tracks so they activate on play, so frame 1 reliably activates when playing an animation
- Locking animations
Once this is done, I'll work with willing patrons and fans to get some feedback, and then go with a patron-only period to fine tune the beta. I also have a few scenes to release in early access too! In the meantime, continue sharing your scenes on my Discord, I always love seeing the crazy creative stuff you come up with. Timeline 4 will most probably not be out this month, but the private alpha most probably will.
