2024-04-18 06:34:09 +0000 UTCit both makes sense if you understand the incarnation system, without that system kirito would have died in episode 10 because asuna used it to run with super human speed to save him. But for some reason the anime doesnt talk about it, i believe they talk about it in the novels and in in the anime the only way its shown is by kirito having golden eyes when he is at max incarnation

2024-04-18 06:27:45 +0000 UTCI have to admit that Asuna breaking out of paralysis and Kirito being able to exist as a "ghost" right after dying feel kinda deus ex machina. It doesn't seem like it hinted towards any other reason why it was possible other than just willpower being able to break rules, sort of like Kayaba mentioned. Either such a functionality was programmed into the game as a means to make it more "interesting", or there's an unintentional bug that allows bypassing some rules, or it's just some poetic license. Kirito surviving makes more sense though. Since we know there's a delay between when someone dies in the game and before they're killed in real life (because otherwise the resurrection item from episode 3 couldn't work), it's just likely that the game was completed before that countdown reached zero, and game completion cancelled it. Yuki means snow. Yuuki means courage.
