...that Matt Christman referred to on the show. I was reminded of it again today after friends sent me a few annoying posts they saw over the last few days. I sometimes suspect my friends hate me, because they insist on telling me about "YouTubers" and "tweet doers" they don't like. I totally get why we all feel the urge to jump in and offer a neat dunk or two, but I'd like to offer you a rare "Take", and propose #nocareAutumn.
What I wished I'd said during that episode, but will say now, is that the CIA/feds/MI5/special branch, whatever, created much of this "Discourse" stuff years ago when they were running constant infiltration ops. In so doing, they seeded a very effective, self-reproducing culture of being annoying and attention seeking that can sustain itself without the need for direct cop involvement. This is especially effective in the social media age, where the technological infrastructure rewards and amplifies that kind of behaviour. If you've ever seen a terrible post and thought, "this person is a spook", the chances are they actually aren't, but they are unconsciously reproducing spook tactics. To engage with this is to be Captured, a fate we must avoid at all costs. Your best defence, instead of firing off a post these clowns will just ignore anyway, is a carefully curated pay no mind list for when you're online. Like the billboard monsters in that Simpsons Halloween special, just don't look.
Embrace #nocareAutumn. I rarely preach on the show or on here, but I saw good folk getting tangled in endless arguments the last couple of days and felt moved to post some advice.
Next episode will be ready soon.
