You’d need a two parter at a minimum to do JJ justice. My two favorite random JJ facts: 1. John Barbagelata (the last right wing and Republican to credibly challenge for the mayor’s office) was convinced until the day he died that JJ and the PT stole the election for George Moscone, who only won by about 2,000 votes. 2. His son in law is a pretty active poster on the San Francisco Remembered Facebook page and is a terrific source for JJ knowledge. I believe he left the cult just before they went to Guyana, which is why he’s not dead.

I’d been saving this up for a while and it’s very good, as an SF native myself I’d love to hear Brace on Jim Jones. The political class to this day is so entwined with JJ it’s unbelievable.

I got the free month audible now just to listen to the Oasthouse podcast while I'm scything hills here. Oh BTW you where talking a bit about Jim Jones last month I got my article published on the Jonestown research site. It's a lacano-althusserian reading of the calamity. I've had thoughts about getting back in to that research to focus more on the politics of Jim Jones in San Francisco as you and Brace where suggesting. Also to read some of the Russian sources on the matter.

I liked This Time aswell, can't remember if I watched the second season (if there is one?) but it's seriously spot on, I hate those cousy morning couch shows, especially when they get vaguely political on an important topic right after having made a special about how to cut the nails on your cat or what creams to bring to the beach...

I laughed out loud to the Alan Partridge comment! Been rewatching some of the stuff when he lives in the Hotell and mid morning matters. The ' I can't remember what I had for lunch' bit in the pilot nearly gave me a stroke.
