Episode 28 - This is the Zodiac Speaking pt 1 ft. Brace Belden
Added 2021-09-24 00:58:57 +0000 UTC**RE-UPLOADED WITH AUDIO ERROR AT 1:21:05 FIXED
The Spacemen 3 tune came blasting in as Brace was making a good point that tied up the episode. This is the corrected version of the ep. Apologies. On the other hand, if you didn't know who Spacemen 3 were then congratulations, you've just found your new favourite band.**

...or: "Tales From the Golden Age of American Serial Murder"
In the first of a two-part US-UK operation, Brace Belden - private investigator, parapolitical expert and one third of the podcasting phenomenon Trueanon - drops by to discuss the serial killer as a social and political subject in 1960s and 1970s America. We look at the Zodiac case and the circus surrounding it, realizing that the whole thing works better as a window through which to explore the occult, murky depths of California during the Age of Aquarius. Let's just say that these two shows have a little of everything, so saddle the horses and prepare to ride with myself and the Dark Cowboy into the psychosphere.

2023-05-21 13:44:48 +0000 UTCgoing back and listening to all the premium eps, love the pod. btw the "smell" word that brace is looking for is "olfactory"
2022-01-12 20:48:19 +0000 UTCYou’d need a two parter at a minimum to do JJ justice. My two favorite random JJ facts: 1. John Barbagelata (the last right wing and Republican to credibly challenge for the mayor’s office) was convinced until the day he died that JJ and the PT stole the election for George Moscone, who only won by about 2,000 votes. 2. His son in law is a pretty active poster on the San Francisco Remembered Facebook page and is a terrific source for JJ knowledge. I believe he left the cult just before they went to Guyana, which is why he’s not dead.
2021-11-10 18:42:46 +0000 UTCwe discussed the idea but it was just way too big a topic to cover with the time we had. i highly recommend transmissions from jonestown if you haven't heard it yet, absolutely incredible work.

2021-11-10 16:54:48 +0000 UTCI’d been saving this up for a while and it’s very good, as an SF native myself I’d love to hear Brace on Jim Jones. The political class to this day is so entwined with JJ it’s unbelievable.

2021-10-08 11:19:11 +0000 UTCI got the free month audible now just to listen to the Oasthouse podcast while I'm scything hills here. Oh BTW you where talking a bit about Jim Jones last month I got my article published on the Jonestown research site. It's a lacano-althusserian reading of the calamity. I've had thoughts about getting back in to that research to focus more on the politics of Jim Jones in San Francisco as you and Brace where suggesting. Also to read some of the Russian sources on the matter.
The Return Of The Repressed
2021-10-08 10:01:11 +0000 UTCIt's so on point. Yeah they made a 2nd season, it's even better, less episodes cos of covid I think. 3rd next year hopefully 🤞

2021-10-06 13:08:26 +0000 UTCI liked This Time aswell, can't remember if I watched the second season (if there is one?) but it's seriously spot on, I hate those cousy morning couch shows, especially when they get vaguely political on an important topic right after having made a special about how to cut the nails on your cat or what creams to bring to the beach...
The Return Of The Repressed
2021-10-06 12:41:41 +0000 UTCCheck out This Time if you get a chance, it's so good and giving him a co-host and the talk show format works really well

2021-10-06 12:29:42 +0000 UTCI laughed out loud to the Alan Partridge comment! Been rewatching some of the stuff when he lives in the Hotell and mid morning matters. The ' I can't remember what I had for lunch' bit in the pilot nearly gave me a stroke.

2021-10-06 09:30:10 +0000 UTCWaiting for part two where the surprise twist will be that you've been Zodiac this whole time.

2021-09-24 02:54:36 +0000 UTCTbh I have no idea either lol, but I'm sure I've seen it happen on other feeds. Maybe they are just deleting the old one and renaming the updated one to match

2021-09-24 02:49:50 +0000 UTCHow do I do that and I'll give it a go. Edit: Beyond recording technology and DAWs I am remarkably computer illiterate. I'm still trying to figure out how to set up the discord lmao.

2021-09-24 02:32:30 +0000 UTCThanks for this, isn't it possible to replace the original file with this in the RSS so there aren't two versions? It's not a big deal at all, just me being fastidious about a clean feed
