Bumped Art - Latest Etsy

Hello there

The more observant amongst you will notice that we are presently running a day behind.

There was no post yesterday, so this is the post I was going to do (or a version of), and Cabin Fever will be pushed back till tomorrow.  I’m sure you will agree that it is all very exciting.

The problem I had was – once again – eleventh hour editing.  Loopholes was again recorded on Tuesday, due to me still being shattered from the other edits, and then I had the Loopholes hangover on Wednesday.  This two podcast edits a week is seeing me off, and that might need sorting out soon.  No sooner have I done my weekly posts, than I’m recording Reboot on Friday, and the circle continues. I'm basically always finishing an edit and then having to record again.

Which makes it even more crackers that I then decided I would make an art video for Thursday, encompassing three separate art projects.  I really didn’t get very far on that, in part because the Cricut machine was playing up and in part because I knew I had a hospital visit on Thursday that I couldn’t be wiped out for.  If you heard Loopholes this week, you’ll know I’ve been experiencing dangerous blood pressure, so have been testing it three times a day.  That was ahead of my appointment, and it was silly for me to try to battle through doing a video when I was supposed to be attempting some sort of stabilisation, so well done me for standing firm (not like that).  Obviously the decision to bump the post by a day probably added ten to each blood pressure number, but I’m glad I did really.  We can have different days for a week…

So this post today is just one of those art projects, in picture form, and – hopefully – a link for how you can buy it, should you wish to grab one for Christmas, or just for a treat or whatever.  I’ve been meaning to do this for ages.  I have always wanted to somehow get retrospectively paid for certain aspects of the work I did on the movie, and this is a way I can recoup on the many evenings I spent drawing the storyboards.  I’ve also been clearing out the movie stuff I have no attachment to which was just taking up space (the Hearse was obviously the biggest thing on that list), and today it is the turn of the storyboards and the tent.

As an aside, I almost jigsawed up the cane I threw down that school corridor to add into these, but the glass was too shallow for it, and I thought it was the sort of thing that is best kept whole.  I may find a use for it at some point (not like that).

Here’s what I did…

Oh, now this is the cut vinyl stencil for one of the projects.  I started filming the making of that, and will continue it shortly.  I've got that earmarked as a big wooden sign to replace the Red Dwarf floorpan in my office.  Don't you be thinking that the irony of me not actually getting that done yesterday is lost on me.

Onto the other thing...

This here is a portion of the actual tent that was used in the ParaPod movie.  Finally the secret is out that it was a "Longsinger" tent (I don't know what that is).  I thought this might be a nice thing to slice up and add in with the original storyboards as a momento piece.  It helps it all to be a bit exclusive and a one-time only thing. Which, in fairness, the storyboards are too.  These are the originals I'm putting in here...

Posh paper for the background.  I do have a very strict code to always use the best materials for merch things.  The art prints I do are all printed high end, and high GSM paper/card.  It makes the margins smaller but not small enough that I'd rather cut corners. I think it's partly from insecurity about the work itself, thinking it needs all the help it can get but mainly it's from the amount of mugs I've bought at gigs, which in the cold light of day you realise you've paid fifteen quid for a proper cheapo print. Never sat well with me to take advantage of the kind nature of your audience.

EVEN THE GLUE IS MOD PODGE!

Popping in the original storyboard...

And this was so hard to cut.  I eventually opted to not have it ultra-neat (which looks better anyway), but that was a case of playing the team in front of me.  I didn't actually have the option of making it ultra-neat.

Little title cards to go in the display.

As such.

I decided to sign them on the mount itself rather than in the display area.  It gives them a bit of depth and I also wanted the 1/1 numbering of each piece (they are obviously all solitary pieces) to be prominent.

And they're finally properly fitted in securely with foam strips.

And that's what they'll look like.  I know the two title cards are different sizes, undecided on which to stick with. The ideal Christmas gift (either that or the Country Bears frame I'm going to be listing on Etsy, or the original art I'm putting on there too - it's a proper load of originals that's going to be going on).

My next job (which I'm really hoping I've got done to include in this post), is working out the best way of listing them on Etsy.  I was originally considering just doing it like a "Lucky Dip" where you got whichever storyboard you got, but I concluded that would be a dissuading tactic.  I know there's a trend these days with Mystery Boxes, but I'm not sure I have the requisite teasability for such a thing.  I know there's a way of adding 10 variations to listings, so I'll try and do that, and show those pics as an example of how it will look.  The other storyboards I'm offering as variations are these;

That'll be one listing, with the two finished ones as the other two options, and the second listing will be...

That's the second lot of 10, and they're all the ones I'm going to list at the moment.  I've not the first clue if these will be of interest to anyone, but nobody can buy an idea that's just in my head.  I shall give it a crack and see how many shift. I think they're nice myself, and they're certainly unique bits of original art/movie memorabilia.

The link to them, should they be of interest will be below if I've managed to work it out.  If it's not there, then I'll let you know when I have worked it out.

Edit - I did it.  It was so fiddly and difficult, but I managed it.

Here's the links to the three volumes of available Storyboards;

VOLUME 2 - https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1349360107/

VOLUME 3 - https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1349365341/

I mean, this has all been sort of an advert hasn't it?  I'm not advertising them publicly yet though, so you've got first dibs.

Hope you've had a brilliant week, and if you want a little bit of company in your weekend I'll be back tomorrow with a better-late-than-never  Cabin Fever podcast for you.

Much love to you

Yes...I promise I will sort it in the new year....

I've ordered the Gullible Buffoon one, looking forward to it arriving.

Nice work. Are you going to put the bounty hunter figure Star Wars drawings out? I’d love those .
