I spent a week thinking of a question but I took too long to meet your deadline. I've always wondered what your research process is. How much of this shit do you just know from memory. While I'm listening, I can remember context and follow along. But, if I'm telling somebody about it later, I forget most of the important points. Reading books seems to imprint better than multitasking with a podcast.

Probably too late to submit, but do you have any interest in linking the activities of the French & British states in the period of the French Revolution to later developments? It seems to me that quite intricate webs of relationships in the transatlantic trade and the emigre nobility (William of Orange, The Catholic and Royal Army, the Toulon-Marseille and Quiberon bay expeditions) prefigured in an especially clumsy way the post-telegraph military, naval, and "economic" intelligence that really had to be totally re-negotiated in the WW1/Belle Époque era (like those detailed in "Planning Armageddon" a really dry but quite rich study of Naval/Economic warfare planning which directly feeds into the cybernetic and atlanticist 20th century intelligence establishment)?

Certainly less charisma and mystique, they've lost that spy fiction "je ne sais quoi". That worsens their relation with much of the US/NATO public, but I can't say it seems to make them less effective.

Your BZ (a substance and program that should be WAY more discussed on the "tinfoil left" and in general)/bioweapon ep. was a great coverage of this. Much like proposed "deep events", it's extremely unlikely we'll ever know the causality, intentionality or really ANY details below surface level. That doesn't menan one can't learn from and cross-reference the proceeding moves of powerful actors, whether they're acting in accordance with a plan or capitalizing on/minimizing something unplanned and unexpected. But uh... Hanlon's Razor is a fucking op IMO haha 😖
