I hope you're all good and enjoying the soundtrack.
Dropping this communiqué to update you on the end game of The Octopus series, lest you think we've just disappeared or given up. The hiatus is almost over.
We anticipate there are at least five episodes remaining, plus a couple of "minisodes" we hope will serve as footnotes for stuff that isn't, strictly speaking, part of the main narrative. This thing has run amok and I love it.
The next episode is designed to set up the end of the story. As with MKNAOMI, we felt it best to devise a kind of four act structure. This is the moment the PROMIS narrative and the things it connects to collide head-on with the end of history. It's going to be complicated, but Ben Ghazi and I are going to keep that lantern burning to guide our fireflies through the deep dark forest.
We're going to be covering a lot of ground between now and March(ish); social network theory, big tech, AI, terrorism, money laundering, conspiracy culture, drug trafficking, counterinsurgency, the Valley, the right wing underground, and so forth. I will be adding additional connections to Routes Out of Indio ( https://littlesis.org/oligrapher/7929-routes-out-of-indio-1 ) to help newcomers and longtimers alike keep track of all the various names and institutions we'll be discussing and how they all fit together.
I cannot believe this series has been running since August but what the hell, it's been quite the journey. After that, the US is done for the time being and we'll begin Phase 3 of the show. I'll be recording some one-off self-contained shows to bridge the gap, hopefully getting some interesting guests to stop by too (and maybe even writing another Hollywood Ghost Stories installment, since it's been a while).
As for Phase 3, well, to go forwards, you sometimes have to go backwards, so I'm working on something pretty big to that effect.
Big props to Ben Ghazi for hanging in this whole time, and many thanks to you all for following the story and showing the love.
