WHERE NEXT?

The Belgian X-Files is almost done (…for now…) and October is almost here. I have a list of stuff I want to work through over the next two years, including a couple of long-form series, but there’s a slight hitch:

The Belgian X-Files became so impossibly dark and fucked up towards the end that my circuitry is kinda burned out on some of that subject matter for the time being. I’m not at capacity, as the young uns say. And I think we want to avoid the risk of Ghost Stories… becoming known as “the show about elite pedos” (if it’s not too late to avoid that), so for that reason alone, we’ll be taking a break from discussing that topic for a while.

There are a couple of obstacles here: of the stuff I have got the research and writing done for, some of it does touch on CSA, and I don’t wanna talk about that anymore for now. But the other stuff I have planned isn’t remotely broadcast ready, because TBXF was such a hungry beast it kinda swallowed all my time, so most of the new stuff is still embryonic, barely a few notes or scattered drunken voice memos.

There’s also no chance of a Halloween special this year, because I’m getting hitched on the 31st and the editing/sound design for those shows can be very time consuming. This is not a bit, I’m not up to my usual hijinks, there really is no special this year. I know I’ve said that before as a bit and then done one anyway but I’m being sincere here, there’s just not enough time to sort it all out.

So what does a content creator do when they reach an impasse and they need to stall for time?

THEY DISCUSS MOVIES.

LOTS AND LOTS OF MOVIES.

That’s right. October is MOVIE TIME. I have a list of movies (and maybe some TV shows) I’m going to work through and discuss, offering insight and analysis you didn’t ask for. Some may not be outright horror but they all have a suitably dark, autumnal vibe. Paranoia, violence, fear, you name it. Some you may know, some you may not.

We’re also planning one or two DULCE MIDNIGHT RADIO episodes and just like our beloved X-Files (American, not Belgian), Bradley and I are hoping to step beyond our UFO mytharc and explore a monster of the week type deal.

This may spill over into November but what the hell, we’re all hopefully going to be having so much fun we don’t even notice.
