Something I Noticed About FACGCE & DAEAC#E Chord Progressions

So, I am working out popular chord progression in DAEAC#E and FACGCE tuning for the next book update.

Check this out:

FACGCE songs

Standards Smile: IV - V - vi - I

Covet Parachute: IV - IV - I

TMP You Lost Me: IV - I - vi - I

American Football Never Meant:  IV - V - vi - I

DAEAC#E songs

TMP Always Focused: - IV - vi - I

TMP Caution: I/IV - V - vi - I

TMP Dakota: IV - I - vi - I

TMP Sundress: V - I - IV

Algernon Cadwallader Spit Fountain: V - I - IV - I - vi

Sleepy Dog Screamers: I/IV - I/V - vi

Mountains Stride: IV - vi - IV/V - I/V

So yeah, all the songs are just variations of the 'axis' chord progression lol No wonder why they are all catchy songs.

Not even a iii chord in there once! lol

Comments

Certainly! That's the beauty of them, they give you some colour on a canvas to get yoy started so to speak. Better to lean into the sound of the tuning than fight against it. The open strings that are used determine a lot of the chords. I'm working on giving some examples of this in the ebook update. 👍

Not so surprising I guess. Does the "weird" tuning contribute to the songs not sounding like a typical progression?
