The exercise for June was to build a rack that simplifies a process you repeat frequently. The winner—according to the votes on the Discord server—was Sakuro, and as promised they get to say a few words about their experience with the exercise, and they will get a free month of masterclass access!

Here are a few words from Sakuro:
Hello! I go by the alias Sakuro, and I'm a producer from the US.
Here's a short breakdown of how I went about making the rack! The main objective was to make a rack that could shape claps the way i wanted, and to also turn other samples into claps with only Ableton stock effects and common free plugins. This was an idea I've had on my mind for a little while now, and the exercises gave me an opportunity to make it!
There are key features I wanted the rack to have: a knob that could turn any clap into something wet and metallic, a transient shaper, distortion, and an envelope shaper of some kind, and a knob that can remove lowend and remove general sharp frequencies.
The main challenge was to make something that could remove most harsh frequencies without having to adapt the EQ to every clap. I was able to mostly solve this by looking for claps that have harsh frequencies and trying to find the common point where they tend to be strong, and then adding the ability to adjust how much it lowers those frequencies.
I also learned that drum buss can also act as an envelope shaper of some sort! If you use the knob "dank" and then use the "beef" knob, its similar to adding OTT to a reverb, and it can make the clap have a longer envelope without a reverb tail. Please also mess around with the combination of the Distort and Beef knobs! It can give you some very usable stuff!
Definitely mess around with all the macros! I usually make new claps for each of my tracks and so far this has helped me to make lots of unique claps to use. Thank you for the amazing exercise! It's been really fun, and I enjoyed working on this and seeing everyone else's creations!
