This photoset is not done by me as our official work, but done by my teacher gravure photographer. Itchika worked for his personal project that reproduces Japanese idol photography back in the late 1970s to early 1980s.

Needless to say, Sakura is an iconic flower that represents spring in Japan. Many models and photographers here have a shoot with Sakura in Spring and even me and Itchika planned to have some shoot with Sakura too. However, we ended up giving up it because of current uncertain situation.

Itchika missed Sakura so much and posted some photos from the project to Twitter, and feedback was more than her expectation. What surprise was not just many enjoyed this wholesome but also spotted what portrayed was not just seifuku photography with Sakura but retro idol photography.

The demand for this set was so huge, so we asked him if we can share his work more. He willingly agreed with our asking and even selected many pics for us to offer as an extra reward for our April Patrons. He said it's more than happier for him too that many people in overseas figured out the theme of this shoot and enjoyed it because he was so serious about this project. Not just that retro seifuku, but every each detail he arranged for this shoot such as school bag, shoes, book, pen case, and textbook were genuine products made in the 1980s and he even hired real school building that still restores the 1980s facade to have a perfect background. He also carried many shooting technics that were popular over 40 years before to reproduce retro idol photography as precisely as possible.

Itchika says showing this set is a bit embarrassing because she thinks her cheeks were too chubby back then. But don't you think she is so adorable on this photoset?

We are quite sure many people overseas had to give up their visit to Japan this spring because of COVID-19 and maybe you were one of them. We sincerely hope this retro wholesome and Japanese spring vibes you can see in this set could bring some happiness to you.
