Dino Run 2 May Update, 2023
Added 2023-05-26 13:29:40 +0000 UTCHello all, here is what we've been up to since we showed the Raptor Demo last month:
In-Game Object Spawning UI
The big feature add for this month was finishing up an interface that allows you to place any object from the game, anywhere in the world at any angle. You can also make it affected by gravity or have it locked in place. This work across multiplayer as well, so you can co-create large collapsible structures, boulder avalanches, or fixed ramps to run up and have fun on with your buddies.

(This is not a planned feature for the normal game mode, but it's really useful for testing physics, and we plan on making it available to players in other parts of the game)

We've also started work on some basic UI elements like slabs:

Animation & Physics
We are steadily working our way towards a multiplayer soccer/basketball-like experience for 2-4 players, where you attempt to dribble and fling an egg into the opposing team's cave. This requires a way to propel larger objects with your tail (via a flip-like tail-whap), and more exact physics colliders for the raptor, as right now it's just a single circle, which wont work very well in certain situations (such as standing on your friend's head, which is perfectly normal dino behavior).
The tail whap will look similar to this, which we made a few years ago:

(Worth nothing that the game doesn't involve dino combat, this was just an experiment)
We're also creating additional terrain chunks for the next major task after the egg-sport demo is done, which is the core gameplay experience of running left to right from a doom wall.

And last but not least, dragonflies: https://youtu.be/Gt9bds07DMw
Next up is finishing up the object spawning interface and adding the egg-in-cave scoring mechanic. After that we'll test, polish and send it out to all backers, funders & patrons.
Thanks for the continued support!
