Added 2015-07-09 15:38:43 +0000 UTCThanks for all the support, you guys.
Yesterday really wasn't the greatest day for me - I went broke registering my car (way to reward your citizens for actually FOLLOWING THE LAW, CALIFORNIA) and then the Patron thing happened and I was totally useless for the rest of the day - but your messages meant a lot when I got the chance to read them this morning. Some of you even edited your pledges DANGIT I'M ALL CHOKED UP.
As one of you pointed out, so far it's been 1 Jerk vs 55 AMAZEBALLS PEEPS. I like those statistics. You guys are the best.

What really got me were the late fees and paying the difference in the sales tax. Those by themselves were about $500.

2015-07-10 17:14:57 +0000 UTCI am still in shock at the amount that you had to pay to get your car registered here. My car was brand new and my first registration fees were nowhere near as bad as that.

2015-07-10 04:53:55 +0000 UTCThey're not so bad once you get started, it's just the starting that hurts. $250 for my first registration fees on my car. T_T I just wish we would have better public transit. I would so take trains out to SF rather than drive.

2015-07-10 04:53:12 +0000 UTCEvery time they want to do something like improve a major highway or fund a project, they seem to believe the best way to raise money for it is to tack on "just a teensy little fee" onto the licensing and registration fees. Unfortunately, it keeps adding up. They do that to the sales tax, too, although that seems to be for more local projects and things.
