Oh my god, just, oh... *gives you hugs* I keep a stack of my sketchbooks, too, from ever since I was 7. They even have names. I can't, I just can't imagine how awful that would feel, like someone cutting out a piece of me. Word cannot express how much sympathy I feel for you, and I hope with time the pain lessens.

:( I've had things be forever lost, but I doubt to the level that you have experienced. The only thing I can suggest is take a little time to mourn and reflect on that what was lost, and know that something greater will be rebuilt. We are definitely here for you.

Funny think about Tolkein. I can definitely relate. My earlier writings were horrible. Each revision got better but it still kind of sucked. What really made things 100 times better was when I got rid of everything. I had different reasons at the time, I think it was one part depression, and another part idolization (it was too much of my focus in my life). I decided I was done and threw it away. I couldn't stay away and rewrote everything and wow... soo much better that I'm quite happy with it. Too bad I procrastinate too much to actually put it in comic/novel form :|

Really sorry to hear about the loss of your work. Now make three back ups of everything left in at least two locations and two different formats (anyone still got a 5.25 disk drive?). Especially the originals of DOTL. Not much consolation I know, but why not go and read some of the Tolkein that's been published after his death from his early notes. Sometimes, it would have been better that early drafts didn't survive.

*pats on shoulder, hands hot chocolate* That's never going to not hurt, but you'll deal with it over time...

I'm so sorry this has happened to you.. They made you into the brilliant artist and story writer you are today. Take some time for yourself, be with people who know how to make you smile and laugh and comfort you. Take care of yourself alright? We'll be here if you ever need to look to your fans for support. :)

*snugs* Keep your head up, love. And remember: they're never gone. They helped to make you who you are, therefore they are an integral part of who and what you are now and what you will be. You will make more and better, not to their lack of importance, but because of how important they are. :)

I feel your pain. A lot of my early childhood drawings have since disappeared. But I'll take this as a lesson and motivation to upload the sketches from a few years ago that I still have left. Thanks for the update
