Reader Question #2

It's a big/long one, I'm sorry!

These extra side notes are so fun! The comments on the site are really entertaining as well. Something about Pibbles' offer to "mail you a potato" just tickled my funny bone. Then spud and Von Spudsworth joined the offer, and it was a balm to a really rough day. Keep up the good work! Love the sketchπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

I think when people ask me how do I balance art and work I always start with >by the way, not everyone is the same, It's not because some of us are work demons that you have to beat yourself up if you need to do this full time to advance. Everyone is different and it's cool to be.

Isa and Meg, the Namesake Team,

I'm a software developer, and my former employer discouraged me from programming at home on side projects. I guess this is the reason why, but side projects are always more fun than work. I took a year off programming side projects, and then when I got back into it, I felt that reunited with a piece of myself I had been missing.

#1 Request I would get from clients as a graphic designer was to make their logo bigger. Every two hours like clockwork: CLIENT_bannerad_003.jpg - "Can you make the logo bigger?" CLIENT_bannerad_004.jpg - "Thanks for responding so quickly. But can it be just a little bit bigger? And on the other side?" CLIENT_bannerad_005.jpg - "Hey again! Sorry to ask, but just one more time - we just need it bigger, like, big enough to cover the corner of the fence in the image." CLIENT_bannerad_006.jpg - "Are you free for a meeting this afternoon? There are a few revisions that I think would be easier to communicate in person." Guess what those revisions would be?

Hugs. It's OK. We all need a break from adulting

This guy knows what I'm talking about.

Haha! Oh gosh, I know how that is! But honestly, isn't that just being familiar with your limitations, like what's mentioned in that answer? Admittedly, having a contract with Hiveworks that states I CAN'T miss an update is a great motivator!

Adorable and TRUTH.

"The client doesn't like dogs" I'd be like "Please give the client my reply:" *FACESTAB* *FACESTAB* *FACESTAB*...

Eee! Love it Meg! :) Most I can do is small short term projects before collapsing into a heap of gelatinous artist goo. Definitely relate to the first job scenario too T_T

All I can say is, we love you, Meg! You do what you gotta do! *glomp*

Best response I have EVER seen to this particular query, more folks need to understand what goes into this. You should totally add this to a FAQ spot on the site!!! (When you get around to it. REST FIRST!)
