They've got nothing left on the Western Front besides the Siegfried Line and an army that is mostly conscripts, most veterans are trying to hold back the tide of Soviets on the East. Most Germans know the war is over, but Hitler is determined to fight to the bitter end. And most would rather surrender to the Americans and British than to the Soviets.
