...and Thistle gives him a couple flowers at the end of every day to take home to his wife, and Brent immediately got into Lyra's good side when she had the guy in some kind of hold on the bar after grabbing her butt and Brent just goes "usually I'm the one who throws trash out the door but do you want to do it this time" and everyone is super impressed when he flies like 15 feet into the street and Lyra basically gives Brent's life structure and nags after him about his classes and homework and HELP ME STOP

I like to think that Orrig would regularly bring Thistle to his house for tea, just because

I dunno, I just think Orrig passes Thistle by every day on the way to work and picks up flowers for his honey-bunches and accepts her mystery as just one of the many unknowns in life. Someday Brent and/or Lyra need flowers for something (A rude client? Mother's Day?) and Orrig says to go see Thistle (without letting them argue about visiting a crazy street vendor). Famous friendship starts from there! Doesn't have to be something complicated.

... This takes place in a little town somewhere in Louisiana, Thistle was rumored to be a witch of the bayou putting her through a tough life growing up, just because she was born with really terrible dental and was too poor to afford braces after her baby teeth fell out. She isn't hiding her face, she's hiding her mouth because she's insecure from all the teasing and bullying she got growing up. The most meanest being someone humming the "jaws" theme anytime she's walking passed.

oh my gosh I love all of these so much. (*immediately starts thinking about this AU at length.* I'm imagining how Brent and Lyra met and it involves Lyra being very drunk and punching somebody out (they totally had it coming). And Orrig just happens to start bringing big ol' thermoses of soup and extra sandwiches to work because "vife packed too much" and pushing them on Thistle because he thinks she needs taking care of and- ...I should probably stop now and go to bed.)
