A familiar face....!

One of my goals with Margot's re-introduction was to try and leave as much control to Yoko over her as possible, which is kind of difficult to do given that you're doing the artwork and usually answer all the smaller story questions yourself. I based her updated design on this artwork Yoko drew around the time in the comic when Margot first got injured, but given how janky her eye was at that time I wasn't sure if it would have lasting effects or not. So, I just kinda... left that side blank and told Yoko I thought it may have faded, but ultimately to do her own thing with it.

All of this to say, people have been wondering if Margot is blind on that side now, and I can honestly say that I have no idea.

You can't really blame her, though. Until recently, Thistle spent a lot of her time trying to be unremarkable. You tend not to pay close attention to people when you're busy trying to be invisible.

Come on Thistle

She almost looks like she's using her magic to see. :)

I mean... I know a little bit about the medical side of eyes, if you want some input. It's not my specialty or anything; I've just taken several medical college courses (eg: mammalian/human physiology) and also have a hobby of learning from experts about biology/medicine. If the eye is "faded" that's usually due to opacity of the cornea, which is the outer layer of the eye. The pupil itself is best thought of as a black hole, so any "fading" of the pupil is due to something blocking light getting to it rather than something happening to the pupil itself. In this case it makes sense as a result of the acid due to corneal scarring. She'll definitely have decreased vision in that eye; it's sorta-kinda like that eye is constantly trying to look through a thick fog. I checked with a friend of mine who has worked with eyes like this as a nurse, and she thinks Margot would be able to see anywhere from just vague outlines of people/objects to only being able to see differences in amount of light. So that's probably the most realistic range of sight you get to choose from in that eye. Love your comic, as always! <3
