I really like the characters that Michael Palin and Eric Idle play in this one. Such silly and endearing little moments that are so fully. If you are up for randomness, then maybe check out The Meaning of Life, their final movie. It's more sketch based again, but if you roll with it there are some good parts to enjoy and lots of absurdist humour. I don't know if Shaun is a fan of surrealism/absurdist humour though, so it might be that Tom will be laughing and Shaun will be saying 'what is this movie?' :D

2022-12-08 02:55:26 +0000 UTCI don't remember how big this movie was in the US when it was released, but I do remember a few protests by religious groups because they felt it was "mocking Jesus." Obviously they hadn't seen the film, because it doesn't make any statement about Jesus, only about how ridiculous people can be when they believe so fervently in a particular person or thing. So much of the comedic social commentary is spot on. And sure, let's call it a Christmas movie, why not? And Tom wins the sweater -- sorry, jumper --- contest this time. And I'm so excited for the Cinema Rules Shorts! Anything to spend more time with you two! :)
