A couple things about this page:

BOOK 1 EPILOGUE - Page 04 HIRES

Comments

Yeah, that lady is scary. She is just the perfect combination of arrogant, overconfident, and impatient to try to dabble with drath, and worse - she looks to have the talent to nurture into power. She isn't one to trifle with. While she likely isn't as strong as Wu outright, given the time, she'll take the time to gather her resources and run circles around any wizard, despite the work involved, simply from revenging injured pride. That makes her likely the deadliest in the room.

Minotaur Magi

But she chased the shortcuts and craved power. So she is ‘Lady’ G, voluntarily and eagerly seeking the false promises of the Drath for the short-term gains they provide, and she will ultimately fail.

JeanetteB

If she had exercised patience, long-suffering, and kindness, then she wouldn’t be our honey-coated poison and Thistle would not be running under pseudonyms.

JeanetteB

Of course they were mostly native to the South American continents, but with agriculture being what it is today, any place that can support them ecologically now has crops of them.

JeanetteB

Coffee and chocolate beans were used as currency in the distant past.

Mint likes to grow in many types of climates, and tends to take over, so it should be really prevalent. Baking soda is a very effective tooth cleaner. Water, baking soda, and mint (or some other flavoring) would make a toothpaste. In some areas they use anise as breath fresheners, too. So people would have licorice scented breath.

He's quite grumpy

Oh yeah, salt is definitely something that was super duper valuable, to the point that it was used for currency, so I don't know how realistic a solution that would be... but DANG that is INTERESTING and now I want to try it to see for myself. I never heard that, that's so cool.

If we're discussing dentistry.. brushing teeth with table salt is the most effective low-tech solution I've tried. It's gently abrasive, and an anti-bacterial. Makes my teeth feel considerably cleaner than if I used toothpaste. It even works for taking the edge off the pain of a new cavity. Ofc, salt isn't necessarily such an expendable resource in a medieval-tech fantasy world.

M. Gunnarsson

!!! I've never heard of tooth powder before. HMMM!! Maybe this is the answer to my worldbuilding problems...

Meg Syv

Another thing that is interesting to consider is the use of tooth powder rather than toothpaste. Tooth powder has been used for thousands of years and has been made of interesting things.

Chris Edwards

Dentistry and oral care is something I think about A LOT for this story, for some reason. Dentists say that the brand of toothpaste doesn't matter, just the act of brushing, so do people just have brushes they use? Are there plants that have an ideal texture that people cultivate? Mint and other items HAVE to be used for breath and freshening breath, but how extensive is it? How prevalent is the knowledge? Gah, why can't I just research this stuff full time.

Meg Syv

Indoor plumbing and toilets are very interesting topics, because they'll also inform just how healthy the populace is. Not to mention their understanding of germ theory. I'd also be very interested to see just what they do for dentistry.

Also, ngl, EyeBird is cute at this distance lol

Knew it.

I can hear the eye twitch in her voice in the last panel xD
