2021 & Chapter 10!

PHEW! Hello, everyone, it's been awhile! Did you all have a nice Christmas/Holiday Season? I know I did - I became a potato and drew a lot of self indulgent Spider-Mans! But now we are back to the grind, and I am turning my mind to the task of building up momentum to get DotL started back up for this year!

Here is a look at the Chapter Cover - which will be my first task in this New Year of 2021. It's a complicated illustration, but I'm looking forward to whetting my whistle and using it to get back into the groove of things.

As to the current status of Chapter 10, any longtime followers will know that the script for it is already pretty much done, as Chapter 9 was running long and I chose to nip it at a cliffhanger to keep my pagecount and production expectations reasonable. However! I still need to go through and touch up the compositions, writing, and generally get things to a point where I am happy and excited to bring them into being. 

I'll say this here and nowhere else: Chapter 10 is a very ambitious chapter for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that I will be cramming it full of foreshadowing. I want this chapter to be one that you all can revisit at the completion of the story, and need to look at several times before you catch everything I tried to hide in there. As a general personal storytelling rule, I try to leave grey areas for my Future Self to play in and explore, so locking down a bunch of things in this chapter as "Future Events" will be a tricky task, but one I'm excited to undertake. 

As of this writing, Chapter 10 is 31 pages long, and fits comfortably within my typical 40 page limit (yesss). I am still undecided as to a return date - but once I finish the aforementioned tweaking and fine tuning, pages will start entering the production stage and I'll have a better handle on what time frame I'm working with. And as always, as Patrons, you guys will be seeing previews and pages here first before anyone else.

In personal news: some Spider-Man comics I did went viral on Twitter and Tumblr, which, contrary to popular belief, is a very stressful experience because you are managing a bunch of strangers who are only just becoming exposed to your work for the first time. (If you are one of those newcomers, HELLO!! I am so happy you liked what I made!! I hope you like comics! And fantasy! And thinly veiled allegories for mental health!! People yell at me a lot to take breaks because I want to do my very best to keep making things you enjoy!! Please be nice to me!!) 

All in all - it's time for me to get back to work. Thank you all so very much for your support throughout what was... a VERY memorable year. Let us all hope that 2021 is memorable for... different reasons.
