No April Fools Here

We finally did it!

This legitimately is a major landmark in game development. I apologize if development has felt slow going or invisible, but I wanted to try something structurally different after my experience with Exceptionals. And I'm happy to report it's payed off. Development has been a lot less troubled and with a faster turnaround believe it or not.

I wanted to frontload the first drafts of the playbooks now in the last draft of mechanics instead of during the writing phase, allowing me to have more opportunities to draft, edit, and polish them as a whole. But this milestone is representative of 14 whole playbooks.

Look at that! That's more than some games have in their entirety! This is standing in for 54 pages of content in the final book. Form Lodges are representative of What Makes You A Good Adventurer? Who are you or what roles have you played that has given you the skills and abilities to be an action-adventure pulp hero? You should now be able to make just about any kind of person you'd want to from a private detectives, to astronauts, to archeologists, to secretaries.

So What's Next?

Well the first thing I'm gonna do is take a weekend off. Maybe cook myself something nice and play a video game. Probably write something nice and personal. But then it's time to start on the next set of 14 called Fable Lodges.

Fable Lodges are your connection to stories, folklore, culture and also your magic. Because in this setting, magic is an expression of a tangible connection to living culture. And just like in real life that can be complicated, meaningful, or something you have to work for. But I want you to be able to self-define what that magic is.

With one rule; It has to be connected to something real. Is there a story you grew up with and loved? Something you find fascinating and want to explore? A cultural figure? A role? A dance? A recipe? What would that look like on a pulp action adventure where you are using that power to reclaim what belongs to you and your people?
