Bit of the sicks and a talk on AI.

A little ill right now, so more stuff tomorrow. But I wanted to talk about AI, specifically LLM writing programs. Now, I use AI art, because I can't draw. Even my stick figures hang tgheir heads in same, and I don't think anyone wants to see a drawing with notes like: Boobs are here. and "imagine I know what anatomy is."

But i got a PM asking about LLMs or text generators. So i'll answer: No. I play with them, but honestly, anyone writing isn't doing it for the immense amount of money, at least not until my "porno Harry Potter" knock off starts selling. And I like writing. Also, the ability to create, at least for stuff you want to pay for, isn't there yet, IMHO, at least not without so much editing that you might as well skip the LLM point.

The only place I do use them is things like Grammarly, where they have smart grammer checkers. Some LLMs can be good at doing the: "okay, are all my commas in the right place, and did I go from past to present tense." But that's very much in the line of a red line editor job, rather than writing from scratch.

I just wanted to let people know, since some asked.

oh yeah. I use it as a "did I miss this" but it is most definitely not my final proof. That's for my MK1 eyeballs. (which miss stuff still, but at least I know who's fault that is. :) ) Way too many people seem to think its infallible. Though not as bad as a teacher of mine--he had a report on Valley forge and one student turned in an essay where midway through the essay, Valley Forge became the Chosin basin and George Washington was retreating from the North Korean Army .

I proofread books as a side gig and AI still isn't good enough to understand "there, their, or they're" consistently. I can tell who uses AI versus a human proofreader or only uses spell check. Some writers like to leave errors in their works as it gives the grumpy people something to focus on.
