OpenAI have released a new feature on their ChatGPT API that allows you to define functions and then ask ChatGPT to run one of those functions with natural language!
Naturally I had to use this with Tasker 😄
This is kind of in an unfinished state for now (I'll make it more polished later), but for now, to get it working, you need to
- import the project here and enter your ChatGPT API Key when asked
- Download the attached html file to your Android device
- In the project edit the Task Descriptions Scene
- Long click the screen > Edit > Set Mode to File and set Source the html file you downloaded
- Back out of Tasker to save
- Run the ChatGPT Function Setup task and set descriptions on the tasks you want to use with this. You can set parameter descriptions as well, as shown in the video
- Run the ChatGPT Voice Task task to make ChatGPT select a task for you and run it with the correct parameters! Again, check the video for examples
I'm not totally sure that everyone can use the new API features yet, so please let me know if you're not able to.

2023-08-02 09:27:49 +0000 UTCthis would be much more ethical using another iteration of GPT. i do not endorse openAI or any of the other big tech companies. i do not support Joao incorporating chatGPT into Tasker. we should as a society work towards limiting the powers of big tech and cloud surveillance. i dont know how to create/clone a GPT bot but i've seen several instances of it, so it's doable. i think that should be the goal.
