Video Release Roadmap

Hello! Thank you again for following me here on Patreon!

For the next week, I'm going to be making a post here every day to provide a sample of the membership benefits you'll be receiving as a paying follower. I want to gradually introduce these to ensure nothing's rushed, while keeping you in the loop!

The first thing I wanted to do though was present my game plan going forward for my main channel. I want to keep the Retrospectives as the main focus on the channel, and allow you as Patrons to inform what I cover with them. All paid membership tiers should currently have access to the first priority poll, posted a couple days ago!

The other main series I want to do (dubbed 'Observations' for now since they don't have much of a unified theme), are meant to be more unexpected, impulse picks by myself, that are based more in my broader interests in games, TV or animation and don't fit the Retrospective model of video making.

I am also hoping to create some more 'spontaneous' videos that break the mold a bit from these two series, which I'm presenting some examples of in the schedule below. These aren't meant to take time or resources from the other series, but rather be a bonus; sometimes I need to let off some steam and make something simple/light-hearted to ensure I don't burn out making heavier or more intensive stuff.

So with that said, here's the road map for the next few months!

Halo Reach Highlight Reel

Back when I created my Halo Reach video, I hosted a public games night with viewers of the channel, and there was a lot of fun to be had. I wanted to put this out for others to see, as well as inspire interest in hosting something like it in the future; some quieter ones for Patrons and more chaotic ones for viewers in general! I did a good chunk of this video before finishing the Retribution Retrospective, so its very much nearly complete.

Expected release: Within the next week or so!

Observation - The Ordertide

Similar to Beginning And Ending A Decade With Halo Reach, I want to take some time to talk about Total Warhammer II's Ordertide. It fascinates me as this in-game role-reversal where hordes of order factions swarm the bad guys, and there's something special about its existence given how The End Times went down.

Expected release: End of December - Beginning of January

Retrospective Review - Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

As promised at the end of the Retribution retrospective, I'll be covering Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, and hopefully the rest of the series in the future too!

Expected release: End of January- Mid February

My History With Warhammer

During my Update video in June, I mentioned that I originally wanted to talk about my personal history with Warhammer to give some more context on why returning to the Dawn of War retrospectives was complicated. I still have that script and would really like to tweak it a little bit so I can put it out with a more positive spin! Not to mention, for the vast majority of Warhammer fans who follow me, I think its important I make something like this in-between two decidedly non-Warhammer videos.

Expected release: Mid February - End of February

Observation - Fire Emblem's Best Scene

There's a particular scene from a recent Fire Emblem that really struck a chord with me; its antithetical to all the tropes and traits that I really dislike about those games (Fire Emblem's image problem exists for a reason), and I really want to bring light to this scene and praise it with a dedicated video.

Expected release: Beginning of March - End of March

Retrospective Review - Dawn of War 3/Dawn of War 1 Mods

The winner of the public poll for the Dawn of War games shall be covered, with the runner up coming later into the year.

Expected release: End of March - End of April

Retrospective Review - Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

If I'm covering Blood Omen, I figure it only makes sense to do Soul Reaver as well! When I cover this may be subject to change depending on your feedback, but I would like to cover the series as a whole eventually, even if that's sprinkled in with other picks!

Retrospective Review - Winner of the Post-Dawn of War Priority Poll!

Your chosen game will be covered in a Retrospective! Since all the current candidates are part of a series, I will be wanting to do their sequels as well. However, given how many requests there have been to cover different games, coverage of sequels may be mixed with other games which will be the subject of priority polls as well!

I want to put this here to keep you in the loop, while also accepting feedback if you aren't particularly happy with this order or if you have any concerns about me meeting the expected release dates. 

Patrons of Basilisk Tier or higher can expect another post tomorrow, talking about the behind-the-scenes of the Retribution video, and the lessons I've learned from it to make video production smoother going forward.
