Any time I do foliage, I’m like, next time let’s make it even MORE of an endevour!!!! And this sure was something. I feel like I’m learning to do so many things though, and im sure I’ll be implementing this kind of greenery in future paintings, same with what I did for the Ric & Hor paintings with all that grass!!
Figuring out all this leafy stuff was tough at first, the sketch I did was super minimal, basically only the outer outline of the bush itself. All the innards I came up with on the go and it sorta just worked! I implemented a technique I’d used before with bushes where I’d have a green space, outline the first layer of branches, then fill up all the negative space- and then repeat. You can sorta see that in this one as well, it’s pretty straight forward after about the thousandth leaf! 😵💫
So here is a lil 1930’s au Jones, having a ponder about his life while on a trip with Horatio. Hor takes him to France, spending, eating and living lavishly, a honeymoon of sorts. Still, Jones isn’t really,, happy. He’s content, sure, he’s not going hungry or sleeping in dodgy places, but theres still something keeping him from being actually happy with life.
Horatio can be overbearing, fed up with Jones’ immaturity at times. He doesn’t weigh in that that might be a factor in dating a man quite a bit younger than him. No real life experience yet. Still he loves him, they both love each other, that’s all that matters, no matter the murderous end awaiting this relationship.
I hope you like it, I had a great time with this piece!! Next painting will be nsfw, I have some sketches ready and waiting which I hope you’ll like!
Please enjoy!! 💓
