Producer Tier: Tutorial (October)

Hello Producing Person,

We're a few days late, apologies!

This month; Nik challenges himself to make something out of his own old unused samples. In Bitwig, he uses the Sampler to create a workflow that generates new and unexpected results.

Enjoy and let us know your thoughts!

Yes! More bitwig <3

Gleb Zverev

I feel like he's hiding treasure in his casual vibe. you dog you.

Chris

The Drop FTW

Chris

Yes, I thought you were just trying to get it to shift to the next step per note trigger. If only there was a way to reset the note advance, the way to get a repeatable thing is annoying, hitting play stop play stop play stop. or of course bouncing the result. I'm sure you've already thought of that though. :)

Santino

Oh yeah, that's cool! Thanks for the heads up! N

VISION

Yeah, I was aware of this (although I might not have shown it lol). Just seems like a bit of a workaround. And I didn't want to go too deep into Bitwig, but now there's all you guys responding in depth so I probably should next time :D N

VISION

You mean on the steps modulator? I didn't do that because then the results wouldn't be repeatable if the amount of steps per bar doesn't match the amount of notes per bar....but maybe I'm missing something here :) N

VISION

Great stuff. It would be cool to make a video on how you organize your sounds and stuff. :) Im too messy for my own good, sadly!

Sascha Dikiciyan

Holy shit, legend. Thank you!

Matt Erickson

I've not watched this one yet but have been meaning to mention from one of the older vids: when using MWaveshaper, in the right click menu where you can change the shapes, if you un-click the "integral curvature" button right above the sine shape, you can have non-whole number multiples, and if you're using MWaveshaperMB you can assign macros to "Curve" and/or "Point # X/Y" and have the same type of modulation control as Trash but way better!

GXG

You can route steps into a quantize modulater first and then with that alter the pitch in semitones. Just set the quantizer 12 steps and make the pitch modulation 12 semitones. With steps being bi-polar you then have two octaves of modulation.

Dustup video would be amazing! 10 years old and still such a banger

Martin Ševčík

Who else was screaming "SET IT TO NOTE ADVANCE!" ? lol <3.

Santino

Nice one, I found the technique to cut a drum loop into peaces and integrate it in a drum rack pretty interesting

Uriel

Loved the video as always!! If you're planning on doing more breakdown videos I'd love to check out: Omnivore, Anomaly, Dustup, Dead limit or tommy's theme remix :)

BERRIX

Very inspiring as usual :)

Luca Romagnoli

Bitwig used it a few times really like it for sound design love the modulators really liked what you were doing with the perc sounds ill have to get into bitwig a little more thanks for this Nik .
