Producer | Tutorial : Could This Be

Hello Producing Person,

This month, Nik and Martijn dive into 'Could This Be', and demonstrate a Sylenth and Trash workflow that was an essential part of the Noisia sound for a while.

We hope you'll enjoy this one and if you want, please let us know your thoughts!

Amazing

I don't think I've ever seen something quite like that with waveshaping before- while bipolar waveshaping naturally introduces "even" harmonics, the "Noise art" shape in this case took a completely odd-only harmonic signal and drastically amplified one of those even harmonics much louder than the odd harmonics. Specifically, the B note during the 2nd rolling section has a louder 5th harmonic (D#), which makes sense because it's odd, but it also has a louder 10th even harmonic (also D#), which is rare because usually the odd harmonics will be amplified as well preventing an even harmonic from standing out. Those D#s/maj 3rds work very well in this case as B is the relative major note in this Gmin song, and has me looking for where I can stragetically articulate even or odd harmonics with this kind of quite extreme distortion. Many thanks.

Izotope is a very silly company. They once told me they were working on trash 3.....years ago They ruined Trash 3 :((( did you end up finding the descriptions? i could not find.

One Sound Every Day (santino)

This video is bonkers thank you for taking the time to teach us. Question does anyone know why trash 2 removed the algorithm descriptions that were present in the original trash? Is there any resources that have the descriptions of the trash distortion presets/algorithms?

These videos have got me so amped. Some of the best out there

always cool to see those "old-production" videos. Still waiting for an special on Kontakt resampling or FM8. My dream would be a Brainstitch episode :-)

I love these videos. I hope you're gonna make one for the Smack My Bitch Up remix at some point!

This song was a huge reason I dove deeper into electronic music and has a super close place in my heart

Thanks for the video guys! Lovely track and one of my favorites. I miss 200hz snares, I know they're still around but tracks from around those days were just so hugely inspirational. Modern microscopic snare/claps are cool but they don't get me excited because there is not much physicality. Maybe because I play drums and y'all's snares influenced how I like my physical snares to be modified/tuned/struck and I never think about what modern micro snares look like because they're so otherworldly. Kinda trippy to think about though.

Love you, guys! I get, why King Of Leon declined :) You didn't leave them space! If you could make the Imperial teardown, that would be a treat!

And look at what we shared today! :D

Thanks again for this awesome insight! Also very cool to see where it actually came from and what it became. Best wishes for 2022, hopefully I can still join one of the last shows of Noisia! PS what makes the intro chords so cool is it resolves from a BMAJ7 to a Eb minor. So that's a proper jazz intro.
