Producer | Tutorial: VISION 4X

Hello Producing Person,

In this month's tutorial, Nik works with Noisia's new plugin VISION 4X. While making some new music, he will show you how he uses the plugin, what it does for him and the reasons why he uses it.

Enjoy!

one of my favorite tutorials now, just love watching him make music, I'd love if he finished this track

Hey Nik! Could you do a tutorial on convolution reverb impulse responses?

Oskar Widén

Man I can't say enough about how much this plugin has helped with understanding my mix and identifying problems quickly. Best $60 I've ever spent.

@Nik I have a question regarding the FX Grid AM sidechain. I get what you’re doing and I feel confident I could understand what’s going on if I had more of an explanation. I’m trying to recreate it now but Vision4x was blocking the last portion of the signal flow. I assume you routed the bend into the Follower RF, then into the AM/RM module? Could you give me a better run down, please? When it comes to mixing I’ve been finding I prefer incredibly precise control over my transients like this, as well. Thanks!

is there a reason you didn't put the timeshift on the send midi with a delay? then you don't need two time shifts.

lxzl

Great monitoring plugin, looks really useful for electronic. Nice video.

I just made the switch from Ableton to Bitwig and I've been on Ableton since 2010! Ableton really needs to address those pesky PDC issue... I for one hope to see more Bitwig in the future! Thanks for all the knowledge.

Great tutorial - would be amazing to see how you approach mastering as a whole!!

Hey Nik just curious question do you usually export samples in 32 bit depth? I saw in another videos you recommended export stems in 32 bits, do you apply that to samples you make too? or samples just at 24?

Tidmey

After taking a look at some bounced snares I was making, The Newfangled stuff seems to introduce pre-ringing, which smears the transient(sometimes in a cool way). I also need to remind myself that not all snares need to have the perfect sine wave transient.

Epic! Would love to see a Dust Up tutorial :D

BERRIX

Was hoping for one of these! Good to see your work flow thought process in more depth!

Nico Stadi

This was very inspiring and insightful. Nik has always something unique and rare to offer. There was one 'easter egg' that I caught. That was Die Artwood - Babaji project. You can listen to the tune. It's already out. You can kinda hear his or their (noisia) involvement. Very special song. Thanks for this and for that! Cheers!

Good call! Maybe they'll implement it if people send them an email. I already asked them to make a dedicated waveshaper/folder, since Trash2 got discontinued. RIP.

Crisp on KCLIP emulates the Lavry Gold soft clip saturation which a lot of mastering guys have been using forever :) also love the Delta feature, wish Newfangled would add it.

Don Skotnicki

Always inspiring to watch you cook! Is there a reason you'd avoid using the Newfangled Saturate hard clipper when processing a whole kit? Also thank you for the LFO Tool tip. I struggled to get that to work as a good midi controlled ducker without artifacts. Vision 4X has already helped me so much!

These are the reason I subscribe! Love everyone else as well, but Nik is the jam. Would love to see a breakdown of Program (Sleepnet Mix). That Sleepnet guy, in the shadows, looks suspiciously like Nik.
