Hello everybody, something interesting and kind of new for myself, animating the mouth with the teeth inside of it! Making illustrations do follow this rule too but when it comes to animate you can find many surprises and you can be fooled and lost pretty fast, so there is something simple and easy to do.
When you drew your face (a facial key pose for exemple) draw also the inside of it, by transparency; so you have a main base, and use it for all the other frames you will do (to help you can make many profiles, left, right, center etc ..., if your character turn the head for exemple while talking).
It really helps to keep the teeth to the right sides, shapes and also helps to put them in the right place very subtly, you can't alwaus guess where the limit will be before making the animation, it's hard and comes with time.
Then depending of your style, you can play with this rule, the teeth can grow or shrink for exemple (cartoony style), for myself, I like to add new teeth appearing when an expression change, if it's well done and respect the rules, it looks like realistic and magical :)
It also help to place the tongue!
Also use tons of jawbones references, it will really helps you and you will learn a lot!!
Also will put some more examples, with more realistic standards, for exemple talking about the lower part only moving and all :)
Hope it will help you if you like to animate or illustrate teeth inside of the mouths, it's always interesting and cool to watch when it's animated :)
