I've discovered the joys of a VOCODER!! Listen to this thing!! I can sing with myself!! I hope to do more stuff with this technology because I'm only just discovering the expression I can have with it. Very very exciting :D

I’ve been fascinated with vocoders for much of my life. I’ll not recite the history to you, but there was an interesting bright spot in the early 1990s when Digitech and IVL worked together making the Vocalist VHM-5. It has a built in pitch tracker, and that makes it lots of fun. You could probably find an inexpensive used instrument at a music store. Each new iteration just got better and better, but the first one was plenty powerful.

When I took Music Technology at college, half the equipment was broken and the rest were outdated and finicky. They upgraded the studio the following year, after I had graduated.
