Very different video

I want to support people doing amazing things! I find so much fulfillment in knowing that I am, on evan a small level, helping someone live their dream. On another thread, my biggest comfort is when I take the time to meditate or at least get in touch with myself.

Teabag out before milk in Malinda - come on now ;) But really this was a lovely wholesome video <3 Welcome to an age where our perception of the world has never been more fake. Every single thing we see/hear/watch on social media or youtube or elsewhere is (as was TV and plays before it) mediated by the creator to only show the best bits. Thus we live in the most fake perfection ever. Queue crashing self worth and mental health globally and as a society. If you don't goto Uni, if you don't do a job you love, if you don't create, if you don't have people "like" and "follow" you, if you don't get you 15m of fame even if it's by partaking in the dreaded "reality TV" where "real people" do nothing remotely real to get attention and money ... then you have failed. There is no real panacea for this situation we have created. Combined with social media making us more divided than ever by individually and corporately tailoring our input to things we already like/believe/think and thus more polarised to anyone who disagrees or believes differently ... well we have a wonderful world on our hands. It's wonderful to find people who can put content out there of them having a cup of tea without looking like they're going out to a party and reading a script. Genuine people are a become a rare commodity and genuine content even rarer. The world isn't supposed to be full of exhibitionists and extroverts with depressed introverts feeling they've failed. We work better together, as with most things. So if you were born to perform - go forth and work to make it happen. If not, then never feel this is what matters in life just because corporations or media value it more than your day job or volunteering or creations. I'm literally just rambling now so I'll shutup <3

I initially was very distracted by the fact that she put milk in her tea. I think there are different kinds of fame that people can go after, i personally do not care for music or movie famous people, but am very interested in scientists who make great contributions to science.

My personal journey of the last few years has been realising the difference between what I feel like I should want, and what I /actually/ want. A big part of this has been allowing myself to accept that, as you said, I don’t HAVE to be extraordinary in order to have meaning. I come from a family of musicians who have very Big personalities, like they’re all in bands, they’re the kind of people who’d jump on a piano in a restaurant and give an impromptu two hour concert, and it was expected that I’d be the same. And my strange dichotomy is that I love to perform, but I don’t love being noticed. I want to sing and play my heart out on stage, but I want the seats to be empty. This has always been a mind-boggling concept to my family and others I meet, and for a while it made me fall out of love with music because there was always this Expectation that I wasn’t doing what I should with it. And I’m slowly beginning to realise that it’s okay if I only play for myself, or write for myself, or draw for myself, or any of the myriad creative things I love. It’s really great to focus on how much I love doing what I’m doing without worrying that I’m not doing it right. So I’m really glad you’re getting to focus on what you love to do too, and that you’re growing with your passions and becoming extraordinary in the right Malinda way for you. Thanks for the video, and all the best for your future projects

My life has two main facets right now - one is working on a medical laser that is in use around the world; on any day I can be sure that my work has been used to improve or even save a life, which is an extraordinary feeling and thought. But second, as a college professor, I have learned that I can not measure my extraordinarity (sorry, making up words, but just couldn't resist) by anything I ever see. I have to measure my impact on students based on what they then do with what they learn from me. I occasionally hear from them, but rarely. I would love to hear more, but it almost never happens. But, Malinda, I can tell you this - your music, be it GTS or straight, adds beauty to me and my life. You give me strength and courage on hard days, and an extra smile on good days. I am sure many will agree that you are our extraordinary. For everything I hope to be for my students, you are to many of us. Thank you! We love you!

Well thought and articulated. If extraordinary is the minimum we require to value something or someone then the problem is us. Keep producing music because of the love of music not for the adoration of others. When you use your talents to your full and give honest full work then you are adding value to this world. And that is why we, as paterons, support you, not for forced “extraordinary” but for authentic more-than-ordinary that sometimes surprises and delights everyone by going beyond.

I had actually made myself a pot of tea before watching this video. Lol. As for what I want to be known for, I would say helping people, as cheesy as that sounds. But I also know the balance of self care, which doesn't always come off as important or "newsworthy". However, we can't always be "on". One of my favorite sayings is that you cannot give from an empty cup. (Kind of fitting since your simple moment was drinking a cup of tea. Lol). But again at the risk of sounding like a Hallmark card, we ALL can do extraordinary things every day just by helping each other out. 😊
