New song! A voice memo

Hello my amazing patrons!

Here is a new song I wrote last weekend that I think has some really solid bones and I'm excited to share it with people.  I messed up a bunch in the voice memo but that's ok xD.  Let me know what you think!

More to comeeee

xxMKR

Lyrics:

I’ve gotten good at crying quietly

My mouth wide open, hoping you can’t hear me

Holding my breath, but a lonely sound escapes

You kiss my shoulder out of worry

Several hours later I finally wake up

To flowers in a red plastic cup

You’d placed them on the kitchen table and left me to stare

at the door you left unlocked

If you’re gonna wear me down

Wear me down slowly

I know it will all catch up with me

eventually

When you get home you apologize, waiting for an “it’s ok”

But your little act of courage instead meets my disdain

And so I play fiddle on the roof while you burn

Knowing full well we’ll never learn

If I’m gonna wear you down

I’ll wear you down slowly

But I know it will all catch up with me

eventually

I stitch up the wound

But it’s too tired to heal

It’s unclear

where we could go from here

Comments

I like it. It calls up a lot of feelings involved in getting over emotional abuse with a new and healthier relationship.

Bree Campbell

Sounds really raw and stripped down. Love it.

Brent Dreher

I'm not a musical genius but I like this song.

Christer Lind

Ya know, this kind of reminds me of Alec Benjamin’s “Let Me Down Slowly” song :) I love it so much

Audrey

Yes, this can definitely work out... reminds me a bit of a young Missy Higgins (the special two/sound of white etc) especially like the chorus repetition with the intermittent A/B at the end!

Martin Schorel

This sounds...pure. Not just in composition, but also the message you're communicating. I REALLY don't want you to throw this one away; keep it because I can tell it speaks your character amazingly.

The raw-ness makes it hit even harder! Goodness this is spot on.

Jonathan Isip

This has the potential to be a very powerful song!

Thomas Morley (Mojo)

Love this! Love the shifts in tempo. I have definitely been there too.

Cinnder

This is really the foundation of something amazing
