WOW LOOK I MADE A YOUTUBE VIDEO!!! It's been OVER A MONTH!!! But look at THAT we made a thing. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope it makes you think about your background and identity too!
I am so stoked to announce that I have made two part-time hires here on Team Malinda. One is a lovely human named Ethan who is going to be helping me with video editing, research, and script writing! The other is Jordan, who is our new Patreon community manager!!! She will be the one dedicated to taking care of you all, ensuring rewards get fulfilled and that everyone is happy and healthy.
For the first time in my career I looked at all of the content I want to make (the YouTube videos, the short videos, the music, the touring shows) and thought "literally no human could do this amount of work phenomenally on their own," and then I actually DID something about that by getting consistent help instead of saying "eh I'll just lose more sleep." We call that GROWTH!! And I could not possible do that without you. At all. So thank you thank you thank you.

2022-06-07 21:13:44 +0000 UTCMy mother has researched a bit in her ancestry and it tells me I'm a mix of Norwegian (My Grandmother) Danish (way back to 1300s) and Belgian Walloon (even further back) but me, my parents and my sister are born in neighbouring parts of Sweden (My Parents) my sister is born in the same city as I am.

2022-06-05 14:25:17 +0000 UTCHey Malinda! Here are some video ideas: Write down meaningful words - places, items, feelings etc. each on their own little sheet of paper and put in a container. Add to that some common words needed in a song (a, for, and, you etc.). Have some friends send you some of both as well. Draw out some of each (meaningful and common) and build a verse around those. Then do the same for the chorus, more verses etc. to create a song. Draw as many or as few words as needed for each part. Take a song and turn it into the opposite genre. Or turn a song from upbeat to slow or vice versa. Combine a couple of your favorite songs into one and do a mashup. Walk to a certain destination in the city. Along the way, write down some names of objects you see, activities people are doing, names of places etc. Write a song based off of those. Video reaction of people doing duets with you on TikTok. Do a video discussing what you’ve learned the past few years dealing with the change in social media and how it’s affected you as an artist. Do a breakdown of a song you’ve written and explain what the process was like. How did you come up with the lyrics? How did you decide what it would sound like? Etc.

The family was mostly North Carolina biased. They got mixed in with Cherokee. My mom was Joan Cathey (Hartman) My dad was German Hartmann family on his fathers side. Welsh/German on his mothers side Grandma Dolly Dycus (Castlebery ) A.K.A. Baron Kesselberg name was Anglicized. Most cousins on my mom's side are red heads with Widows peaks hair. But she got the Black Hair. Cathey go's back to Robert the Bruce first King of the Scots in the 14th Century. They moved to Ireland in the 18th century. Also said the woman are from the DARK FAIRY or Banshee Woman. The ones that foretold death kinda thing. I wonder if we are 3rd or second Cousins? We are supposed to be related to Elizabeth Doll (Cathey). Senator Doll. My mom's middle name is 7th generation Elizabeth so go figure.

My maternal side is Scottish and when I was young my Scottish cousins tried to convince me that a haggis was a type of bird with one leg longer than the other that ran around hilltops. Thus the way to catch one was to force the bird to go in the other direction, unbalance itself, and roll down the hill 😆! I have also touched Loch Ness, where the really plentiful monsters are biting midges!

I would love more videos about creating music, like the very basics of some/all the steps if that sounds interesting to you. I have a some chords and words and melody for my first song but I don’t know how to develop it :(
