I improvised a whole song, here it is

Hello my beautiful patrons.

I've been posting my daily improvs on Discord (will start that back up again today or tomorrow), and this one from July 16th really stood out to me and the friends that heard it.   I was feeling super disconnected from my voice, so I just turned on an amp with some reverb, turned on a drone and sang.  I'd also just been to my family lake house for our reunion, this time without my grandmother who passed away in December, and emotionally went through the wringer that week for lots of different reasons.

You can hear me working out a lot of ideas and going through a lot.  But at around the 4 minute mark I start to hit something.  I start coming back to it.  I get comfy with it and find the melody by the last verse.  And there was a song all of a sudden.

I will adjust some of the lyrics to work with the melody I wound up finding by the end, but here are the lyrics as they came out naturally.

I believe this little ditty will ultimately sound very Irish, might even be bilingual, and will come out in the fall xx.

Just wanted to share that with you all as I start working on long-form content for Youtube again!!  So exciting :)

A fallen star

I wish my grandfather saw it with me

A beautiful sunset

I know my grandmother was there

A soft cool breeze

Their grandparents spoke to me

I hear their blessings and I am free

A butterfly flies past

My grandmother laughs with me

The rain kisses my face

My grandfather sees me

The thunder rumbles

My ancestors speak to me

I hear their blessings and I am free

A flower peaks from the earth

My mother calls to me

A little firefly fly gleams

My father winks at me

The river runs

My ancestors run with me

I hear their blessings and I am free

🥰 As I was listening to this song I was looking out my back window facing the hills and wilderness. The sky. Beautiful. Your voice is angelic.

It made me think of wild horses running, then you sang about them. It also made me very emotional. Thanks Lots of love ❤️ sent your way.

Gorgeous. Felt this deeply - lost two grandparents this year and this sounds like how I feel. Thank you.

Hauntingly emotional... My favourite line in the early segment, that hasn't made the cut (yet) in both words and melody was around the 2:15 point - the chromatic descending start for the line of "There's a river that flows through me"

Totoro (Hans)

I really enjoyed listening to this!! The beginning too! I don't have the words to describe it well but the emotions feel so powerful and I just enjoyed sitting listening

Love the whole 8:23 Stopped me in my tracks the first listen with the intensity of emotions you’re pouring into this At times it reminds me of Amhrán Mhuínse, and at other times of Anach Cuain for some reason, this would definitely be well suited to be bilingual

Pictures of wind sweeping over the shoals of herring, standing by gravestones. With a look of hope and a tear in your eye

Sometimes the best stuff comes from the exploration... I love this in its entirety! - Also after hearing this, I am certain you can do anything Lara Fabian is doing, including Adagio. Just saying... you have the range she does.

Improvisation works this song was good.

This is gorgeous, and I love the material before the 4 minute mark as well. You have such a beautiful voice and I am in awe that you can improvise melodies and soulful lyrics like this! I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother, and I hope this has helped you to work through some things.

Laura Bone

Is that a hurdy-gurdy in the background?

Jim Grafitti

Wait, this was entirely improvved? Like, from scratch at that moment?!? You never cease to amaze me. Don't throw away the stuff before the 4 minute mark -- that stuff is good too. I can hear the Irish influence in there, but something about this sounds much more Appalachian/Americana to me. Which I suppose fits the setting and your ancestry path, now that I think about it. ;-)

This is deep! Touched the depths of my soul
