Regarding tour
Added 2024-10-04 14:00:12 +0000 UTCHello my beautiful patrons,
I’m placing here the message I sent out across social media.
I cannot begin to tell you how difficult of a decision this was to make. The grief is still hitting me in awful waves.
But there is still so much to celebrate.
I’m very determined to be as alive and present at these shows as I can be. I’ll be able to process this further with you all once they’re done. But for now, if you are in any of the cities below, please come by ❤️. And go to the merch table and show them proof of your patronage for a surprise from me xx

Hey friends.
This is the single hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in my entire career.
I am having to make the call to reduce the Look At You Now Tour to five shows:
Boston 10/20
New York City 10/22
Philadelphia 10/23
NPR Mountain Stage 10/27
Washington DC 11/23
All remaining shows will be canceled at this time and refunds are available at point of purchase.
Now, why on earth would I make a decision that I absolutely don’t want to make?
The biggest reason is financial. Between an unstable economy and an overcrowded touring market, artists of all sizes are struggling with ticket sales. Acts my size have been especially affected - travel, utilities, and venue fees have skyrocketed this year. Major corporations have put even more walls between artists and their fans.
We’ve combed through the data and considered every possible option. The reality is, if I continue with this tour as conceived, I will most probably go into serious debt. I’m in this for the long haul and I just can’t risk my ability to make music for years to come. We’ve grown up together so much already, and I want to keep doing that.
I’m looking forward to sharing more with you about all of this, but for now I need to process and grieve. I have SO many shows in me - performing for you all is the only damn thing I want to do. This tour was just the right thing at the wrong time.
HOWEVER. This EP is literally about taking a leap, hitting the ground hard and working your way back up . I cannot wait to give you five amazing shows. This EP deserves to be celebrated, and I will leave absolutely everything I have out on the stage each night.
I’m so sorry, especially to those of you who had travel plans to see the canceled shows. I’m sorry for letting you down. It’s a heartbreak that I wouldn’t wish on any artist ever. And I promise I will be back.
Support indie venues. Support indie artists. Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Charleston and Washington DC, I will see you soon. Get your tickets if you haven’t already. Let’s do this together.

I actually missed this announcement and showed up to the venue in Boise, ID very confused. It's all good though, I get it. I want you around for a long time and hope to catch a future show!

2024-11-10 11:32:14 +0000 UTCMight I be so bold as to suggest Lexington, KY as a possible future venue. Not as crowded with artists. A very receptive audience and venues are much more reasonable than the cities you mentioned. Just a suggestion you may want to check into.

2024-10-30 02:23:12 +0000 UTCOh my… US conversion is $52,325.89. I feel so bad for artists. Also, 100% agree with this - “The Internet may not be as emotionally rewarding as live performance, but please know that we are still here, willing you on.” Makes me realize too just how important Patreon is right now.

2024-10-07 14:37:56 +0000 UTCI just read a news item on the BBC website about a singer/songwriter about to embark on a tour in the States. Her gigs are sold out and she estimates that that she will lose about £40k on the trip. I really hadn't realised just how hard the business has become for artists and my heart goes out to you. The Internet may not be as emotionally rewarding as live performance, but please know that we are still here, willing you on.

2024-10-07 06:39:10 +0000 UTCBeen waiting to see you on tour but will have to wait for another time when life is simpler for you. Your concert was going to be a kickoff to our 1st trip to Ireland but we’re flexible. Hope things get better so we and so many others get a chance to hear you in person

2024-10-06 15:30:31 +0000 UTCI hear you about skyrocketing costs. I just paid off my semi-annual auto insurance premium, and it's 16% higher than the last one! Good luck!

2024-10-05 16:01:15 +0000 UTCHeartbreaking for sure. I know others have suggested different venues, etc, but you do need time to grieve as well. Take care of you and your spectacular team. We love you all

2024-10-05 04:49:07 +0000 UTCWhile I am very disappointed that you will not be coming to Minneapolis, you need to do what is right for you in the long term. My hope is that you will be touring again sometime in the future. You have given all of us so much, as fans of yours patience & continued support is the least we can do. Sending you virtual hugs & all the good vibes I can

2024-10-04 23:32:38 +0000 UTCWhile this is disappointing news, I have to agree you are making the right decision and for the right reasons. You need to do what’s right for you and for the big picture of your career. There will be other opportunities, other tours and other concerts. Be true to yourself and what you need. We are here because we love your music, your spirit and you.

2024-10-04 18:07:12 +0000 UTCMalinda, even though I’m sad to not be able to see you and attend an amazing concert, I completely understand. I know how hard of a decision this must’ve been. You have to do what’s right for you. I am so freaking thankful for everything you and this community has done for me. I am looking forward to a concert, whenever that may be, and we will all have the greatest time together. Take care of yourself and do what you need to do ❤️

2024-10-04 17:28:25 +0000 UTCOf course we're all disappointed but in the end we would rather you be around for years to come to share your music with us. Sending hugs.

2024-10-04 17:01:56 +0000 UTCI'm with Chuck! I was going to see you in Raleigh. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself first and foremost. I'm sure we'll see you in all the venues in future!!!!!!

2024-10-04 15:46:17 +0000 UTCI am heartbroken for and with you. And the devastation in this post hits it home. But you do have to make the best decision for you. Regroup, and I know you will pull yourself back to the pinnacle, and I will look forward to seeing you perform again in the future. Much love.

2024-10-04 15:34:46 +0000 UTCIf it helps in any shape or form: I am convinced that you made the right decision. It might be easy for me to say as I live in Hamburg/Germany and am not impacted directly by any of the cancellations. Malinda, please enjoy the concerts you are about to play. Let them be a beacon of light, warmth and hope for the time until your future concerts will happen. 🗽

2024-10-04 15:06:33 +0000 UTCSorry you will be missing Raleigh. I was at the last show in Raleigh and the venue Pour House was the most packed I had ever seen it. It's dissapointing that you can't make this work financially even for a packed venue but I am sure the travel to get there and the other costs you mentioned are factors I can't really understand but can completely appreciate. Hopefully Raleigh will be on the next tour!!
Chuck
2024-10-04 14:45:57 +0000 UTCI believe that most of us are here for the long haul as well! I'm sorry you had to make such a hard decision but we'll be here when you can tour country wide again!! ❤️

2024-10-04 14:41:04 +0000 UTCI completely understand Malinda, you’ve done so much already in keeping the state of my mental health afloat. You do what you need to do and we support you all the way! Much love! ❤️

2024-10-04 14:30:03 +0000 UTCMalinda, what you do is not a hobby, it’s a business, giving pleasure to many (hopefully including you) but not at the expense of financial realism and long term security, or as near as your industry allows. Too often ‘creatives’ separate themselves from reality with punishing consequences for physical and mental health, let alone the bank balance. Please be careful that you don’t try to compensate for reduced performances by straining the vocals ,easily done. Congratulations on taking the next steps to ensure a successful career 🙂

2024-10-04 14:29:55 +0000 UTCEverything you've done makes total sense. I'm sorry things have ended up like this, and I am still absolutely going to stay here with you through all of this.

2024-10-04 14:17:04 +0000 UTC😭Sending so much love your way, I can't imagine having to make this decision. I'm heartbroken the Cleveland show got cancelled, it was going to be my first solo outing as a wheelchair user. But!! My excitement will only build until I can see you shine on stage again! 💜

2024-10-04 14:13:53 +0000 UTCplease, do anything you need if it means that we'll get more of your art in this world, because whatever power is out there knows that your art is exactly what we all need. with that being said, see you in nyc ❣️
