Happy Halloween from Century of Scream!

Hello Patrons! We at Studio 346 have been working hard this spoopy season, and despite a few errant werewolf bites and demonic possessions, we've got some new spice to share: Our first gas-mechanical switcher and our first four-axle caboose!  The Davenport 30-ton switcher was originally built in 1937 for the Sumpter Valley Railroad as #101, and was later sold to the D&RGW in the 1960s to work as the Durango switcher, where it received the iconic #50 that it still carries today. The locomotive was then sold to Roaring Camp and eventually found its way to the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, CO, and we've been able to use the prototype as a guide to aid its digital replication. Across the Rockies, the Carter Brothers Caboose pays homage to the early side door caboose designs that were common in California with assistance from real Carter Bros. restoration projects, this example being used on the South Pacific Coast railroad and later the Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge as caboose #400, the carbody of which survives at the SPCRR at Ardenwood, CA We've also had more than a little fun recreating late 19th century headstones with equal parts wit and whimsy. New Dev Blogs are in the works as well for more rolling stock customization, industry interaction, and some exciting new updates on what Hya-Synth can do to raise the bar in audiovisual simulation. Next month, we will be marking a special occasion for the 20th anniversary of Railroad Tycoon 3, and we feel it's worth paying homage to that game, discussing why it has been so influential and how it has inspired our work in a full retrospective. We hope you all stay safe and have fun, and from all of us here: have a very happy Halloween from Century of Scream!
