"I am not Toph, I am Melon Lord!" Y'know, it's really a good thing that Toph is on our side, because it would be terrifying to fight her. We're finally here, the many part long finale is upon us, and things are gearing up. With Zuko's character being arguably the best written in the whole show, it can be easy to overlook Azula's. But that scene between Azula and Ozai near the end is surprisingly nuanced. We've been seeing a bit of a mental decline in Azula since Mai and Ty-Lee's betrayal, but seeing her reaction to Ozai saying she can't come with him is painful to watch. It's clear that much like Zuko used to, Azula heavily desires praise from her father, but in her case, she got it, repeatedly. So for her to verbally lash out a bit during that scene, even comparing that treatment to Zuko, shows just how dependent she's become on her father. This is shown to be even worse when she immediately changes tone the second Ozai shows her "kindness". As Aang put it "Ozai is a horrible person" and is a very manipulative father. It's sad to see just how far he's twisted her to his desires.
