The conversation with the past Avatars, especially Yangchen is without a doubt my favorite conversation in the whole series. I love Yangchen's dialogue about how despite being an Air Nomad, Aang can't fully detach himself from the world, because his sole duty is to the world. "Selfless duty calls you to sacrifice your own spiritual needs and do whatever it takes to protect the world." is one of the best lines in the whole show. From the beginning, Aang never wanted to be the Avatar, it even resulted in him running away and getting trapped in the iceberg. He really identifies with the teachings of his people, which is why it's so difficult for him to accept that he might not be able to handle this how he wants. Even after hearing Yangchen, he tells himself he needs to kill the Fire Lord, but we see he still resists that thought when he speaks with the Lion Turtle. I have so much more I want say on this, but I'd rather wait till the final episode for that. The Zuko/Iroh scene is very much a shades worthy moment. Seeing Zuko experience the true love his father should have gave him always makes me tear up. Also, Bumi is an Earthbending machine. Other than Kyoshi splitting her island from the mainland, and Toph inventing Metalbending, watching Bumi singlehandedly take back his entire city in less than 10 minutes is the most incredible feat of Earthbeding we've seen.

2023-12-01 09:20:40 +0000 UTCIn season 1, Zuko would always yell at Iroh to wake up so they could hunt the avatar. And now he just patiently waits, possibly hours, while his uncle sleeps. On a side note, both the sandbending from the previous episode and now the giant lion turtle, were shown and mentioned back in the owl library episode. The show doesnt make up stuff towards the end, but builds and builds on the brickwork it established previously, one the countless reasons i genuinely love the show.
