I don’t think anybody likes Akemi. I’ll be surprised if anybody does anyway. Let’s be honest. Xena was a groomer. So yeah, it was inappropriate but then Xena was a really awful person back then. If that had been the story of the finale, I think it would have worked just as well because we’ll never know just how many young girls Xena corrupted.

2025-09-21 11:36:52 +0000 UTCI hate Akemi 😡... I'll be back to edit this after finishing the reaction. I saw her face and it made me upset... Anyway, so yeah I hate her. She was manipulating Xena from the very beginning. I guess she's not technically "bad" but she's not innocent at all. I love the whole cinematic atmosphere of this finale. The producers really wanted to make this basically a film, and I think they achieved that. The special effects are a huge upgrade from the rest of the series. I love the boat scene where Xena is looking at Gabrielle as she is training, and I love the way they did all those special moves to fight the fire in Higuchi. It looked very cool. And yeah, this episode had a huge sense foreboding, which I'll talk about in the next episode. I still say those 40,000 deaths were not Xena's fault. Cause wth?? Great to see Borias once again. He's one of my favorite returning characters. It might just be his accent lol. And yeah, Xena looked great with that hair. Oh, and the whole thing with Akemi felt so damn inappropriate. I know that flashback Xena is a lot younger than she looks but idk what they were thinking with the casting choice. Xena was basically standing back and letting Gabrielle do all the work/thinking. Even before teaching her the pinch I think she was realizing how much Gabrielle has grown since she met her. That whole teach me everything you know thing was such a call back to when they first met. I wonder if Akemi really saw that Gabrielle was Xena's future. She must have known.

2025-09-21 02:14:19 +0000 UTCThere isn't too much for me to say here. Obviously, they wanted the final two episodes to look exceptionally good, and I believe they succeeded. I would have liked it if Gabrielle had, upon seeing Xenan's reaction to the name Akemi, said something to the effect of "Is this about another incredibly important event in your past that played a huge role in shaping you as a person, but that you never bothered to mention to me until now, when it's become the source of a problem?" Xena doesn't share a lot, for a soulmate. 😏
