What's done?
All the planned features are now implemented and ready for bug testing. If you encounter a bug or have ideas for improvements, feel free to post them on the GitHub project.
What's next?
I'd like to experiment with a 4-player challenge mode. These are dungeons that require 3-4 players in a party to start, and will require a fair amount of teamwork to complete. Keep in mind that this is currently on the idea stage and might not happen at all. But it's something I want to try to see if it works out at all. Here are my current thoughts:
- Dungeons get added to the world map. When you click them you get offered a quest, with a few differences: 1. The quest will have a warning that this is a dungeon quest, and have you select a difficulty rating. Once you accept the quest, your difficulty setting will be locked until you finish or abandon the quest. 2. Upon completion, the quest does not get added to your list of finished quests. You'll have to visit the dungeon again when you want to replay.
- The quest will only progress for the host. Upon completion, all party members will receive the reward, regardless of if they had the quest or not.
- The dungeons will be much shorter than the story based quests. Usually 1 cell of trash and a boss fight.
- The dungeons will require teamwork to get through. On higher difficulties you will need at least a tank and a healer.
- Even though they're shorter, the quests will still offer the same rewards as regular quests. Higher difficulty will grant a bonus chance towards an extra essence, and reward bonus experience.
- A Defenders of the Realm outpost could be added to the world map. Each day they could add a new contract for a dungeon they want cleared, with up to 3 days worth of contracts logged. These contracts would have rewards bound to them such as gold, essence, crafting reagents, weapons or even thongs or toys at rare occasions.
- Dying on the trash section of the dungeon would let a friend break you free after 20 seconds, or you could release to get teleported back to start.
- Dying on a boss section in a dungeon would lock you in the animation until either the boss is dead, or your party has wiped. If you wipe on a boss section, the encounter resets.
The reason why I would like to add the daily defenders of the realm rewards are to prevent grinding. I want to see players do these dungeons because they find them fun. Adding one bonus reward a day will hopefully prevent these dungeons from becoming a chore that you'd rather cheat your way through than actually play.
