New feature: Challenge mode
Challenge dungeons will show up on the map once you complete MQ07 (they'll look like red skulls). Party members do not need MQ07 completed to earn the rewards. Challenge dungeons differ from regular quests in the following way:
- Only the host has to accept the quest. The quest will not progress for any other players, but the rewards will be shared as soon as you defeat the final boss. The rewards are personal, bringing additional players does not lower the amount of loot each player gets.
- They support up to 4 players. With emphasis on teamwork.
- The dungeons are shorter, usually 2 cells.
- If you die to trash, you stay down for 90 sec, up from 20. Coop players can break you free after 20 seconds.
- If you die to a boss, you will stay down until the boss is dead or the party has wiped. If the party wipes, the fight starts over.
- Rewards for the quest will scale based on difficulty.
- The experience gain for completing challenge dungeons is doubled compared to story quests.
- Once you accept a challenge quest, you cannot change difficulty.
New feature: Defenders of the Realm
A new outpost in Fort Erect unlocks once you complete MQ07. A new challenge dungeon will be picked each day for a bounty. Completing this challenge dungeon will mark the bounty as completed, and allow you to hand it in for bonus rewards. Bounties last for 3 days.
Bugfixes
- Fixed an issue where cast times below 0 would cause broken spell visuals.
- Targeting a coop player will now say their name. If they can be broken free the text will now say "Break Free".
- Disconnected and/or dead players will have their icons turn red.
- The C modifier has been changed. When you target a coop player or yourself, you will now place focus on them. Holding C on a viable spell will target your focus.
- Made some memory optimizations to hopefully make stack heaps less frequent.
- Fixed an issue where party HP bars would stop updating.
- Fixed an issue where LTB visuals would get stuck.
- HP increasing effects will no longer affect current HP percentage.
- Fixed an issue where restoring mana by percentage was taking the percentage of max HP instead of mana.
- Fixed an issue where clicking your target's spell icons didn't output any info.
Classes
I've done many minor damage tweaks to classes while playing. Play around with your favorite classes and report back on if you notice any changes.
Tentaclemancer
Class has been overhauled. Abilities are now:
- Tentacle Bolt: Deals 8 damage to an enemy. Restores 3 mana and generates 3 arousal on the caster.
- Splort: Deals 16 damage to an enemy. Generates 10 arousal on the caster. Has a 25% chance of resetting the cooldown of Burst.
- Burst: Consumes your arousal, dealing 10 damage plus 1 damage per point of arousal consumed to all enemies within 10 meters.
- Infest: Infests all nearby players, healing them for 100% of any arousal received, prevents interrupt effects, and generates 5 arousal every 2 seconds. Lasts 10 seconds.
- Summon Fiend: Summons a tentacle fiend to fight for you for 20 seconds. When the fiend attacks, you regenerate 20 mana.
New Class: Shadow Knight
An unholy knight drawing upon dark magic. The Shadow Knight is a tank class which steals health from their victims and boosts their own.
- Darkstrike: Deals 8% of your max HP as damage to an enemy and restores 3 mana to you. Generates high threat.
- Steal Vitality: Deals 12% of your max HP to an enemy and taunts them. Also heals you for 8% of your max HP. Has a chance of resetting the cooldown of Doom and making it instant cast.
- Doom: Dooms all nearby enemies, dealing 4 damage every 2 seconds for 12 seconds and instantly restoring 5% of your max HP for each enemy hit. Also increases your max HP by 50 for 30 seconds and counting as active mitigation.
- Absorb: Absorb all detrimental effects, arousal and pain. Restores 50% of your max mana plus 0.666% per point of arousal and pain absorbed.
- Dark Pact: Place a dark pact on yourself for 12 seconds, increasing your critical hit chance by 100%. Any damage that would otherwise kill you will restore 50% of your max HP and consume the pact.
What's next?
Most of the content I wanted to add is now in the game, so we'll enter a period of bug testing and improvements to the modding tools. As such, I'd love for you to put feedback and bug reports on the GoThongs github !
Come may, I will start work on jFish World, so the amount of time I have allotted to Game of Thongs will be reduced. That being said, I would still love to add another 3 challenge dungeons. If I can find time for it, I'd also like to experiment with a Thomas Losko Dance Challenge as a weekly event. But we'll see how that goes.
