It's official and I can finally talk about it: This month we're "Searching" for new heights. I get to look over the shoulders of editors Nick Johnson and Will Merrick from the Sony/Screen Gems thriller "Searching". Nick & Will were also Directors of Virtual Photography on the Film (the entire story is told through various screen recordings). We're gonna bring up the film on their editing machine and look at the editing of some scenes.
The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and is currently theatrically released in the United States, by Screen Gems. It has grossed over $61 million worldwide and received positive reviews from critics (93% Rotten Tomatoes Score), who praised the acting, screenplay, and visual execution.
As always I'll will try to set up an exclusive Q&A for all patrons and there will be extra content for $3+ patrons.
------------------
Our 3rd LIVE POST MEET (available to all $3+ patrons) will be on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 11am PST. Mark your calendar, because I'll have a giveaway raffle for attending patrons for 10 cool audio plugins (FCPX) and 2 transcription service packages (any NLE).
The Topic will be "HOW NOT TO NETWORK", based on a bizarre email I got recently.
I'll send out a reminder shortly before the LIVE STREAM.

Finally, I started working on a video about Editing With Music. I'll take a look at Atomic Blonde and the new Netflix series Maniac (among others) and share some tips on how to work with music as you cut. What are some cool music edits in recent films you noticed? How do you work with music?
It's not HBO. It's TGE.
Happy Editing.
