Progress Report

Hello everyone!

Since the last progress report I’ve been busy redoing a bunch of renders from chapter 1. The character outlines are now considerably better throughout whole the chapter. I think it looks quite prettier now and I’m happy with the final product. The text was also proofread a bit better.

However, there are still some issues. I have redone the worst animations, but not all. That would simply take too much time and I really want to release chapter 2 before the end of next month. That means that there are still inconsistencies and some scenes/animations still have ticker outlines than what I want. But, you know, the perfect is the enemy of the good and all that. I will keep improving some older renders and animations during the next releases to try keep a consistent and pretty art style across the game. But I want to do it a way that won’t delay future releases too much, because that’s what everyone is looking forward to.

Besides that I have managed to port the game to android. It took some headaches and a few changes in the code, but it’s done. Because the game wasn’t designed with small phones in mind, some interface stuff had to be changed just for this version. Some things like the text in the in-game phone are a bit too small, but it’s not too bad. But the animations look really good in a small screen! It considerably masks the problem of having a potato laptop for rendering. Try it out if you want to remember the story before the release of chapter 2. It’s also a good opportunity to see the improvements made on the art style.

Finally, you might have noticed some small changes on this page presentation. I’m trying my best for everything here and in-game to not look like it was drawn by a 5 year old! The game now even has an icon. But don’t get too attached to it. I’m not particularly happy with the result, and it will probably receive update in the near future.

Regarding chapter 2, I’ve manage to do some more writing while the laptop was busy re-rendering all the stuff from the previous chapter. The idea is still to have it ready by the second half of September.
