2021-05-31 02:26:32 +0000 UTCThis episode gave me a flashback to one of my medium-sized adult high school football coaches threatening to fight me in the middle of practice. Good times.

2021-05-23 02:30:48 +0000 UTCThis relates more to the lower leagues rather than the NBA/NFL, but there’s so much pressure that comes with playing pro sports. Knowing that this game you’ve played forever plays a role in determining bonuses/contracts for other players is a weight that never really goes away. It turns into a job and there’s nothing in college that prepares you for it. Often it results in the negative language that Carl and Ahsohn talk about and semi-pro environments can be really hostile since literal paychecks are on the line, which takes a huge toll on the mental health of players. Totally agree on Carl’s point about the NBA being an elite fraternity that should be beyond this dragging of other players.

2021-05-21 18:37:47 +0000 UTCJust wanted to jump in and say I’m in full support of Carl and Ahsohn talking about whatever they want to talk about. I love the conversations these guys have and they are an important voice for me. I love this patreon because it’s funny, but I also love it because it’s refreshingly non-toxic which is hard to find when the subject is sports. If you listen to CCHC and you haven’t come to respect these dudes enough to appreciate their point of view on Race or politics, then “you’re soft”, as they say. Also, psychology has completely turned its back on negative reinforcement. Sports psychology in particular. This is even true of “positive reinforcement”, as Ahsohn also mentioned. Check out Season 2 of Against the Rules podcast by Michael Lewis if you’re interested in something like that.

2021-05-21 13:53:36 +0000 UTCI love when Carl talks about this stuff. I could not agree more. The thing they said about Brown and then that crazy shit Charlemagne said about his whole family being murderers and Kwame could murder everyone, was just nuts. I can't listen to any sports radio anymore, or watch even the intermission and halftime shows because I just can't handle the amount of nonsense that is happening. The bully culture of 'the only stories that get play are those that are about personal attacks' is just so fucking played out.
