Jo's a clown for saying that but I *think* I get what he meant? Like he's not drawing a comparison between the specific events at all, he's just comparing the raw emotion that each one made him feel. It's not hard for me to imagine that D-Rose's injury made him feel an emotion that, in its purest form, resembled the way he felt during 9/11. That abstract, pit-in-your-stomach feeling of dread, fear, sadness, and anger. The realization that your life is never going to be the same going forward. All that applies to both situations for Jo. Right? Again the events are completely disconnected. One was a multi-generational tragedy on a basically unimaginable scale, and the other was an injury to a multi-millionaire athlete. But the undistilled feelings they made him feel were still basically the same.
