I've been working a lot on my technique these last few months, and I think I'm finally at a point where I can focus on playing around with composition and color way more.
A few things to note with this piece is how I used contrast as the main drive of focus, I decided to make the character's body and water the same color, to convey the calming feeling of floating down a river
But this does mean that there was a risk of the expression getting lost. So I decided to give a more theatrical lighting to the piece. Making the face the brightest spot also allows for a nice center point.
Also colors! At a first glance it may seem like a very simple color palette, mainly blue, red and yellow, I did however add a lot of purple and green undertones to the water, so this would help to separate the body but also allow me to "dissolve" the body as if it is submerging.
There is more to this piece like the way I used red specifically and the S composition, but I rambled too much already!!!
