This was a fun movie I had never heard of and I'm glad the podcast gave me a reason to watch it. The cartoon comes as a bit of a shock, not least because it follows the very somber singing in the church. The message of the movie, as discussed, is that film entertainment should stay in its lane and make us laugh. I wonder if this juxtaposition is meant to indicate that moreover, whatever purpose Sullivan intended for Oh Brother Where Art Thou, church already has that covered? Also, I bumped on the robber having Sullivan's shoes on when hit by the train, because we see S's shoes get stolen overnight in the montages. So I guess the guy who takes his shoes is the same one who later (the same day?) knocks him out and robs him.
