This is so accurate lol

Fucking fascinating. It’s a world so foreign to me and yet so enthralling.

Wow ok just gonna join the chorus and say this was a crazy good ep; having listened to many other entertainment-industry pods this contained pound for pound easily the most new & insightful behind-the-scenes info I’ve ever heard within a single podcast One question I have about the recent past, and future, of TV comedy is not necessarily the survival/renewal of multi-cam but also the survival of non-mockumentary single-cam - probably most successful with say 30 Rock, Malcolm in the middle, Community obvi, etc, but more recently that format has kinda shifted to be basically become a slightly more light-hearted/comedic veneer on a prestige drama - Barry or The Bear for instance, which even just a few years ago would be completely out of place getting Emmy noms in the comedy categories. The shift seems clearly related to the development process that Sean and Dom are talking about where the act of creating the show with a pre-planned multi-season plot encourages a higher amount of dramatic tension & more “serious” stakes - elements that shows like Friends did have, but in a 22ep season would usually be shoved into season premieres/finales or an occasional two-parter. Idk I’m just rambling I guess but I hope viewers still have room (and patience) for a more traditionally comedic version of that format - Animal Control on hulu is clearly aiming for that feel and I hope they get the chance to continue because I thought their first season was very solid/has a lot of potential

Love love loving this show. Reminds me of the dearly departed Need To Fail podcast with Don Fanelli. I'm really looking forward to this show's continuing journey. I too work in a field where i'm constantly selling my product to people with completely alien whims and its brutal. I was with one distillery for 5 years and one of our distributor partners would suggest us making an 86 proof bourbon 3 or 4 times a year. It served to do nothing but (1) frustrate us (2) prove he had little to no interest in our production processes and (3) give him an excuse to flagging numbers, i.e. "your growth isnt good with us because you didnt take my really good suggestion". It sucks that so many money people with their hands on the levers are absolutely tasteless and clueless. Fuck!

This show is so much fun. I watched the movie after starting the podcast, had a great time. Thanks Sean and crew, this is a hit

Allan Hutchison-Maxwell

Thanks, this helped

Drew Carrymore

Funny that Sean decided to make the podcast I thought I was in for with Hollywood Handbook all those years ago.

Nicholas

I will also add my voice to the chorus: this show is great fun. Thanks Sean & Co.!

Sam

I really enjoy these conversations. Clemdog hit a home run with this show. I was looking forward to the Rodgers episode.

Raging Dull

Ok what the fuck. This is the show the show has always clowned on and I echoe everyone else saying this is phenomenal. The real version of the ten year joke of this show we have all been following is absolutely stellar. We all listen to all these podcasts! We know how much shit there is out there that would be like this! And this is so much fucking better!!! This is so good you guys! Hayes was great on it! The boys could stay together on this one! But holy fuck this is amazing. I know there is limited life experience to draw from Inevitably but Jesus just making it about writing and even reasons you might leave writing (Hayes) I mean fuck!!!! This would be INCREDIBLE.

These episodes have been great. If you continue the show long enough and consider guests that aren’t comedians/don’t have existing personal and professional relationships with Sean, it would be cool to have on Max Read who writes about technology and culture, and who also had his Gawker show on Apple TV cancelled in development by Tim Cook. To the extent that the current strike and streaming platforms are context for Subtitles On, I think it could be a good discussion.

Joe

I would pay for this show on its own. Not that I don't want it included as a part of my Flagrant Bundle, just that it's good enough to exist on its own and develop an audience outside of the HH-verse.

Cornelius K-L

This show is really good. As someone working in a different creative field, learning about all of the parallels that exist in your process is the coolest. It's also reassuring learning that so many of these things are universal issues in any commerical-creative enterprise.

Cornelius K-L

This show is so fucking good. I've learned so much about how the industry operates through these first two episodes. Thank you for explaining things that may seem basic, like an EP vs a co-EP. I'm sure I'm not the only person who doesn't know these things.

Matt

This was extremely interesting and entertaining.

amhig

Extremely good

Barry Shanahan

Loving these!! Crossing my fingies for a Barton Fink ep

Michael Esparza

This was awesome, I could’ve listened for another 2 hours. You should consider putting this ep in the free feed. I feel like a lot of people, even outside of the usual fanbase, would find all of those development stories really fascinating/ valuable.

Chris Tobin

Same

Vincent J Ives

I really really enjoyed this. Super interesting and very entertaining. Genuinely great ep!

Jordan

This is my favourite show.

Bill Devine

This show is awesome!

Morgan

loved reading the transcript of this episode

Colin Oliver

I love this show. Been a fan since day 1.

Alex f_c

I’m a fan of this show and I hope it continues in some form well past the strike.
