Big Doordash at it again.

So perpetrating genocide is just an “incumbency disadvantage”

Alex Dalir

1) if that’s true why did the democrats run her 2) have fun never learning lessons and supporting republican policies

Alex Dalir

“Your views” and it’s being against genocide

Alex Dalir

This was the first episodes of any podcast that talked about the election that I could stomach. I appreciate it. I don’t necessarily agree with everything the guys said but I think (a) it’s true that there will not be the same outpouring of “resistance” that we saw in 2016 and (b) maybe the best way forward is to work locally to help your community. The rest is riffing on the results of an election that was called earlier that morning. I don’t think it’s serious election analysis or even fully formed ideas and shouldn’t be treated as such.

I like how Steph Curry was like born and raised to be the best 3pt shooter ever; he shoots like 3 million shots a day etc. and then Ant Edwards just decided in one “off” season to become the best 3 pt shooter and that was that.

thanks this perspective will definitely have a positive impact on marginalized and incarcerated Californians.

I do have to rebut Hayes's statement about field dimensions and home court advantage. It doesn't matter that both teams have to play on the same court, it matters that the home team plays half their games on that court. Like, prime GSW have a court with the 3pt line push back 3 feet. They've got shooters that can make those shots more consistently than other teams, so they'll be favored to win home games just by virtue of being better suited for their court. Get a team of 6' 10” guys and raise the hoops 6 inches to suit your tall ball team. Or lower it 6 inches to have a better defensive team. You've made it much harder for the visiting team to play their style of game.

Political parties won’t cater to your views if you remove yourself from the political process. I agree with your actual political views, but in terms of logical decision making it doesn’t make sense to abstain from voting and allow things to get even worse.

Living right outside of New Orleans and after all this I will definitely start getting involved locally. Please keep rooting for us

Free Sketch Idea: Harris campaign war room, discussing strategy and how to motivate and turn out frustrated, unenthusiastic, or disenfranchised voters. Someone asks for any out of the box ideas, cut across the table to Senator Sheev Palpatine. Says “Dick Cheney.”Cut to another person with good ideas, keeps coming back to Palpatine and he keeps presenting terrible ideas/policies alternating between evil Star Wars stuff and things the Dems actually did. Every time it cuts back to him he gets more evil and Emperor pilled. Close with Natalie Portman signing hallelujah at a piano, played dead straight.

Edward

also California voted to keep slavery lol nobody is rooting for yall

G

a better metaphor than basketball generally would be that the Dems are the Process Sixers. they came out looking like they wanted to tank and now the FO is incredulous that season ticket sales are down

G

nobody cares about people who "voted the other way" lol. he got two million fewer votes than he did in 2020. people just didn’t vote this year because they both suck shit

G

like, Trump didn’t win cause ten million Democrats voted for him, he won because ten million Democrats stayed home. not to mention the people who voted Dem senate/house and left president empty, just like in 2016

G

nobody. this is a fake thing made up in the heads of deranged dnc pollsters. but if your genuine issue is preventing genocide or ethnic cleansing, there was no reason to vote Kamala either

G

sounded a lot like disaffected ex-Hillary staffers who categorically refuse to learn any lessons despite nonvoters explicitly saying why they stayed home

G

I just want to genuinely thank you guys for the opening discussion. Talking with my wife last night, we concluded that the only appreciable difference we can make in the world is to involve ourselves as much as possible in our local community (rural village of 3k) and with every day face-to-face interactions with my neighbors and co-workers. Beyond that, the scale of things is overwhelming. To hear the same thing come up in today's basketball podcast felt truly affirming. It's exactly what I needed to keep moving.

Bud, I live paycheck to paycheck and I didn't vote for that dude. It's just not true that the middle and lower class are so concerned about the economy that it was their one reason for voting. They weren't talking about why incels voted for Trump, they were talking about conservative media turning politics into culture. And to say this about Hayes, who has done a LOT of work in LA to help the homeless, is rich. Hayes knows his shit and is very aware of the socioeconomics of this country.

Travis Glidewell

oh wait ur right they totally forgot to validate the perspective of people who are willing to destroy the lives of women, LGBT communities, and immigrants in exchange for maybe having more money. maybe they'll do that next episode.

Don’t know if you’ve checked out his substack yet, highly recommend it especially the latest piece https://bigcityheat.substack.com

I live in the Midwest and I’m a government attorney. I’m solidly middle class and have two little kids. I absolutely know how hard it’s been for the middle class lately. However, Trump plans to eliminate the SAVE plan and did not process PSLF loan forgiveness under his last administration. The people who that provides immediate relief to are nurses, police officers, and teachers. My family will likely go from paying about $600 a month to $2,000 a month in student loans. Under the Trump tax plan our taxes go up slightly despite being in a middle income bracket. The tax breaks given to corporations under his plan won’t be felt by the consumer but instead the shareholders. Prices at stores won’t be cheaper and their wage employees will not be paid better. Stock value will instead increase. I am fortunate to have a decent holding. But a 10% rise on my five figure account is chump change compared to a 10% rise for someone with billions in holdings. Moreover, the poorest Americans don’t have any stock holdings and likely never will, as they simply don’t have any cash to spare. Let’s keep going. If I get pregnant unintentionally, the added expense of prenatal care, delivery, daycare, diapers, etc is astronomical and no policy tweak can cancel that out. If I get pregnant intentionally, and my health fails, my two children are now motherless and my life insurance policy is not going to get them far. Finally, I would never sell out immigrants, trans people, or any other marginalized group, under the erroneous belief that this election is about inflation. They are human as much as myself. We’re all trying to find happiness. Remember, if the podcast hosts are elitists because they can afford LA, then what is the billionaire conman?

Jesus every single Palestinian will be dead in a month cause BiBi's gonna "finish the job" (Trump's words). Who the fuck deluded themselves into 'Trump is anti-genocide"

The Duke of Nebraska

She lost because she's a black woman, never let a white man tell you otherwise

The Duke of Nebraska

Omaha voted blue, that's the only solace I can take

The Duke of Nebraska

So tone deaf about why people might vote the other way. You guys are so privileged and have enough money to live in LA and New York and DoorDash all the time and then call middle and lower class people incels instead of wondering what someone living paycheck to paycheck might think who has just watched food get more and more expensive, exactly the kind of smug looking down on that people are tired of.

TJ

I have to say Hayes called it perfectly for me. After 2016 it was nonstop doom scrolling and I was hyper aware of everything going on. Yesterday morning I logged out of Twitter and plan to go full head in the sand.

Mitch Kapa

Do you think Joe Mande meant to say Doris Kearns Goodwin and instead he said Joyce Carol Oates

Justin Wanger

Came here to say this!

Justin Wanger

I just wanted to thank you guys for the most sober and level headed breakdown of how we got here that I've seen. The Internet was made for rage, and I'm glad that isn't what this is.

Josh D

I've been dying for the return of LA podcast Hayes I love the way he talks about politics and government I'm very much enjoying this episode so far
